What is Church?
People have various views on what the Church is but how many people have really grasped the full, world breaking extent of this divine institution?
Our idea of Church is so ingrained in us through years of mis-experience that the truth of Gods plan is buried beneath countless piles of confused Christians. To most people ‘Church’ says Sundays, Services, Buildings, Songs, and plenty of other things that tradition keeps alive, and that are not intrinsically bad but by the same token can meaning absolutely nothing.
The reality is that the scope of Gods plan for people has no limits, aside from those outlined by the things that destroy us; We can do whatever we want, as long as it’s good. Yet for years humanity has dedicated itself to doing exactly those things that break us and now we find ourselves in the unenviable position of wanting to escape the damage but having no idea how.
So, where does the Church fit in?
I am sure that, if the Church had always done what it was supposed to do then we would know exactly where it fits in and see that it is actually the perfect answer to that most important, totally non-religious question: ‘just how do we get ourselves out of this mess?’.
However….
The Church has misbehaved for so long that not even the Christians know what it should look like.
So….
It’s time we listened to God. It’s time the Church became a DYNAMIC FORCE that fills every area of life. A force that can change and mould itself to deal with any situation, powered by the Spirit Himself and defined by the humility and unquenchable forgiveness of all it’s members. The Church is everything or it should be and was designed by God so that, through Jesus we could learn the truth about life and choose it – rejecting all evil.
The biggest question……?
What is holding us back, because it’s not God.
And our point……?
This is what we are trying be in this one tiny corner of Gods plan: That DYNAMIC FORCE that WILL change everything. Let’s make it happen.

Ten years later and have we made any progress? The pessimistic side of me says no, but the side of me that knows Jesus, says He’s fixing something. He’s getting us out of this mess somehow, even if I don’t see it.
Interesting post. Listening to God is most important, but is usually the first thing we throw away. It’s easier to get caught in the traffic of this world than it is to listen to the voice of God. This may be, perhaps, how we have arrived here so far.
Maybe because we are busy listening to the chatter of the world and our own hearts, our antennae are not tuned to the heart of God. Wow! I keep imagining what would happen if every person who professes to be a christian really tuned into the heart of God the way Jesus did… we’d be turning the world upside down. ๐
EXCELLENT! Yes, it is what the church should be… Dynamically working for Christ and Christ alone. Thank you Ben and Thank you my friend, Steve, for sharing Ben’s words.
