The sound of my eyes!

A curious blogger asked me a fantastic question “Do you have a support worker or a friend to read these posts & comments to you? Or is there some other way?”

As my sight is too poor to read print, i use the built in synthetic voices on my iMac to read aloud every post, comment, scripture, quote & prayers. I made a short video so you can hear some of the different voices and get a little insight of how technology can be used to help blind people stay connected and share fellowship with you great people!

  4. Steve you are such an inspiration and you are helping so many people I am blessed to have met you via WordPress. GOD bless you and your family two and four-legged! Melody

  5. Amazing!! I was wondering about that when I first read your blog! So cool! God Bless you Steve!

  6. That’s really cool! I was just playing with my MacBook the other day, reading posts online, to see what it was like. It’s really good technology, but I had to listen carefully at times to understand certain words. Bonus—I found a couple of typos that way.

Makes me wonder which voice I get when you read my blog… *lol*

    • Hi Jennifer! Thanks for checking out my video. I also found that the text to speech feature is great for pointing out typo’s. I use ‘Lee’ as my default voice, he is the australian english voice and he pronounces words similar to what i am used to, although i use ‘Daniel’ on my iPhone, iPad & apple TV. So your post are read to me in a male australian voice at the moment. Maybe i could record each voice and make a video then authors could choose the voice they would like to have their posts read to me?! Sounds like a fun idea! 😀

  7. Amazing! I wish I knew how to do that.

  8. Thank you for sharing. I have a 3 year old nephew who was born blind. I know he will do great things.

    • Hi, yes he will! Technology is such an enabler these days and we no longer need to feel/be so isolated. Its fantastic and exciting to be able to have the tools that assist in work and express creativity that simply couldn’t be done before! Thanks for liking and if you have any questions that you think i can help with please just ask! 😀

  9. that’s pretty neat, Steve… thanks for sharing!!
