Good morning friends! Yay we made it off the ship, and after a lovely breakfast Β we managed to find the coach. πΒ
First on the agenda is the Roatan Butterfly Farm, home to a technicolor mix of native butterflies and tropical birds. Once youβve gotten to grips with Roatanβs feathered friends, itβs time to delve into the deep blue and see whatβs going on under the water. And thatβs where the next part of the tour comes in. Youβll head back to the coast, climb aboard the Roatan Reef Explorer β a miniature submarine β and travel six feet below the water to explore a coral reef. Back on dry land, youβll call in at the quaint village of West End. Once youβve had a good look round, itβs on to the highest point of the island for some of the best views around. Rounding things off, youβll get a chance to buy some handicrafts on the way back to port.
Hey Steve, stand there and smile! π Β

Β We stopped off at the butterfly farm and Sarah instantly made some new friendsβ¦
RoatΓ‘n is such a special and lovely place, the time seemed to just slip away whilst watching Sarah with her new friends. This trip really showed the beautiful nature preserve in all its wild beauty.Β Β

Β Β The semi submarine…Β
Β Wow it was hot, dark and narrow down there. Once iβd smacked my shin on the solid wood seats that folded down from the wall to let us through (i hit the one that wasnβt folded back up) i realised where the seats were! πΒ
As usual i couldnβt see much at all (can you see anything?)β¦We couldnβt do any of this without these excursions as the tour guides are very informative and passionate about sharing their knowledge on the history of the countries/islands and teach us lots about local people, culture and food! Weβve learned so much about all these places weβve visited and itβs all thanks to these guys! πΒ
I have a couple of videos which iβll post later and see if you can tell me what you see?!Β

Β Gifty shop…
We then stopped off at a little gift shop which was a lovely little hut type place. After buying some bits and bobs Sarah found her fave plant/trees/bush type things on the island. They didnβt sell these, and i donβt think theyβll fit in our cases anyway! π€£ Β

Β Back in the dock…
Sarah and the Dream! π

As we had a few hours left before we had to get back on board, Sarah and i thought weβd have a look around the dock. The dock looked fantastic and was much better than most of the docks weβve visited.Β
First we found a clothes shop, yay!. Every place we visit we like to get a shirt, vest or top of some kind to keep and wear as a souvenir. We managed to get a top for Sarah and a vest for me, both saying Roatan Honduras on them! π Β Β
But then…Β
Sarahβs speech started to slur quiteΒ badlyβ¦I thought βOh no, not here (i always talk to the diabetic hypo) itβs a big dock and i canβt see anywhere and there is no one aroundβ. We then saw a hut type thingy and walked straight towards it. Yay it was a smoothie juice bar. Their english wasnβt brilliant (although a million times better than my mexican/spanish) and we walked away with their local βinsert funny name that iβve forgottenβ and quickly tried drinking it without getting brain freeze to go with the hypo. π
Now i had a reference point, we headed over to a bench which was against a wall (and in the sun for Sarah) but i knew how to get to the juice bar if things got worseβ¦It did!
Sarah managed to do a blood test and it was very low. We had no idea how much sugar was in the smoothie so i quickly got up and grabbed another smoothie!
Now we just had to wait for the sugar to kick in before the ship left without us! It was a tense hour or so but Sarah managed to fight and beat the hypo into submission. To our surpriseβ¦We still hadΒ another hour before we had to get back to the ship.
Sarah was feeling sick but still wanted to squeeze the day for all itβs worth, she saidΒ βHey, look over there, i think those people are coming from a beach or something?β i saidΒ βa beach? i didnβt think docks had beaches etcβ, i was glad to be so wrong!Β π€£Β
The beach…
We were just walking across a little bridge and i thoughtΒ βthis would make a lovely photo, Sarah stand there and iβll try and get a photoβ. When taking a shot like this, i stand with Sarah then keep Sarahβs direction in mind as i concentrate on how many paces i need to take so that i get everything in the shot. When iβm ready i ask Sarah to shout so i can get her trueΒ reference point and we know itβs time for a few pictures. I first put my thumb in the air to say iβm ready and Sarah can start smiling, then i takeΒ multiple images as i have no idea if Sarah is blinking, smiling or even looking at me, lol. Then i either put myΒ thumb up again or put my camera down and start walking back towards Sarah.
But just as i was lining up the shotβ¦A kind man from behind me asked if weβd like a picture together?Β βWow, yes pleaseβ i said as iΒ put my arm around my lovely wife Sarah. I donβt get many of these shots so i really love it whenΒ some Β kind person asks us if weβd like them to take a photo of us. I really cherish these moments.Β β€οΈ

Β A few short steps after and we were walking on sand and Sarah was walking into the sea! Wow itβs really quiet here too, yay! π Β

Β If you havnβt noticed already on our travelsβ¦We βThe Blind Sightseersβ have quite a few dramas, lol. So when we get moments like this we feel really blessed, itβs like time stands still for us and we can just pause and think about how on earth we managed to get here. π Β Β

Β Hey hang on a minute. I didnβt mean pause for quite so long, lol! Sarah could have stayed there all day if time permitted and i donβt blame her after the hypo sheβs just had.
But now itβs really time to get back to the ship. “Which way is it again?”

Β After a couple more photos of the lovely dock it was back to the ship for our return coffee at (yes youβve guessed it) the coffee port.
You may not know but this was the easy days excursion as tomorrow we push the limits of what blindies can doβ¦We go glass bottomed kayaking (first time for both of us) across the barrier reef in Costa Maya Mexico. π¨Β

So good God provided a smoothie stand to help Sarah. What delightful memories. Sarah looks like she does not want to leave the hammock.
Hi, yes they are wonderful memories and when God provided that smoothie stand…It was like an oasis just for us at exactly the right time! π
Sarah didn’t want to leave the hammock, she would’ve stayed all day in the sun but we nearly missed the ship leaving, lol! π
