Wow what a cruise! I hope you’re enjoying this trip down memory lane?

🚠 Before we head off back to the sunshine…Here is a trip in the UK, lol!  🇬🇧 ☔️ 😀

After travelling up to Derby and spending the day with “Our Friends The Wigley Family”  Sunday came and we woke up to a lovely view over Derby.

We then headed to the train station to travel to Doncaster to see Sarah’s family.

Little did we know that the Tour de France was in Yorkshire on this day, but to our surprise the reservations were overloaded and the train was full so we got upgraded to first class (for free) which was empty! 🙂

We arrived in Doncaster for Marshall’s birthday dinner at Cosmo’s where we met all of the family. We had a lovely meal and it was great to catch up with them all! 🙂

After arriving back in Derby that evening, Sarah & i went to our fave italian Zizzi’s for a lovely meal. I also got to have the lovely chocolate, banana & ice cream calzone, which Sarah stole most of! 🙂

Then it was Monday 7th July our 7th wedding anniversary where we would enjoy “The Heights Of Abraham” at Matlock Bath.

  1. My friends have been there! Never when I was in the UK however! Bummer. It looks great. Another place to add to “places to go” list. Thanks for sharing!

    • Hi, yeah it’s defo a place you need to visit while in the UK! It’s lovely to walk around the little town/village and then see it from the top of the cable cars etc. Hope you can get over here soon…And i hope my post helped you see a few things. 😀

    Hi Steve.
God never ceases to amaze, my phone goes bing bong a notification arrives, so i look and what do I see, the words Mattock bath, our hearts brought together supposedly by the power of the internet yet i was born not to far from there in Buxton Derbyshire.

The universe maybe vast beyond our comprehension but to God no distance is to far and in the words of Mufasa somehow we are all connected in the great circle of life.

    Bless you.

    • Wow…Hi Ian! Yeah i know Buxton, i drink bottles of Buxton mineral water down here in Surrey! I was born in Derby and lived there for my first 30 years. I’ve been to Matlock Bath quite a few times (mainly for the pea mix from the chippy) and Sarah & i try to get over there when we travel up to Derby or Doncaster.

Never stopped in Buxton though, i’ve driven through it a couple of times years ago when i could see. 😀

Do you still live anywhere in Derbyshire or have you moved away?

I’m so glad you commented and my post found you via Matlock Bath, lol! 🤣

Hope you’re staying safe and well during this challenging time? God bless you. 🙏

        Yes safe and well.
Now living in Rochester kent, have done for 12 years now, moved about three months after being saved.
Spent many happy hours at the baseball ground when a kid, a few wilder nights in the pavilion at matlock bath.
        Speak soon, God bless.

        • Hi, wow you live down here too. 😀

I can picture the pavilion now (although i’ve never been inside) just walked past it whilst on our trips.

As for the Baseball Ground, i too have been there as a child watching a couple of matches. Wow i love these blast from the past memories, thank you. 😀

My dad was a season ticket holder at derby, as a very young child he used to get me kn and I would sit on the stone step at the side of him.
Then I promoted to the kids end and finally thought I was fully grown up stood on the pop side.
My life at school was one spent kicking a ball around wanting to emulate by boyhood heroes. Roy McFarland, colin Todd, Kevin Hector, Charlie George, to name a few.
I did have trials but my character didn’t match my skill and I fell short in all areas, caused me a lot of grief at the time but now there is peace but a yearning for people to know where that peace comes from.
