Hi WordPress Family…
Me and my lovely Wife Sarah (The Blind Sightseers) were chatting today about what i’d like to do for my 50th birthday next April 2025? I mentioned that i’d never been to America and i’d love to go there one day. Sarah said that she’d also love to go to America and we both talked about maybe Florida?!
I said i’d write this post to ask all of you amazing people about what you guys thought about ‘The Blind Sightseers’ travelling Stateside? Can you guys think of where we could visit, places to go and see and points of interest we could explore? I’m thinking of Florida at the moment but i’m open to any other ideas too? I’ve heard of the enormous crocodiles, snakes and spiders over there…And this could only make the adventure more exciting if we survived, lol! ๐คฃ
Please could you leave a comment with all of your thoughts as i’d love to hear them…I’m getting excited already! ๐

Hi Steve.โJust my personal opinion from living in the US and traveling to different areas-but Florida would be great.โMaybe go when it’s less hot, but still beautiful, so early fall, maybe. September, October.โSee what others that live there think, because some have already posted here.โAlso, I would think about avoiding Miami, unless you kind of want to see a very, very big and busy city.โI would consider the Key West area maybe, if you like the beach and ocean.โCrime is lower, the weather is nicer and there are less alligators and snakes.โThe alligators are in the areas where there is fresh water but not too much at all around salt water of the ocean.
I’m totally biased–I’ve lived in Florida for years, and it’s become home. There are some beautiful places to see–and you and Sarah could come visit us! I’m thrilled you’re considering coming here. Keep me posted on your decision.
Hey Dayle, can you imagine ‘The Blind Sightseers’ travel over the Atlantic and visit Dayle & Family, what a 50th birthday!!! ๐ฒ But seriously once again you’ve blown me away with such a kind offer. Of course it would be amazing to go over there and see you guys…But i wouldn’t want to put you out with a blindie, lol! ๐คฃ
I’ve been looking around Orlando and the surrounding areas, and there is so many places to see…You may have guessed that me and my lovely Wife Sarah love Shore excursions, audio tours and learning all about the local area, whilst of course trying out the local food etc. ๐
I think i wouldn’t get much walking in though as i wouldn’t see the crocodiles, snakes and other killers that we don’t have here in England, lol! ๐คฃ
Do you have any fave places that you like to visit around Orlando and Florida?
Ensure you take a couple of months to research the “AREA(S) you are thinking of traveling. Some locations can be just an overwhelming tourist trap if you go at the wrong time. This is a huge nation with so much do and take in.
Thanks so much for the advise, yes it’s hard even to know where to start, lol. We have so many life long dreams and ideas…But we need to be more realistic as a couple of Blindies need to organise really well and get the logistics right to enjoy places, especially really busy and disorientating ones. ๐
I am confident y’all will have a great time.
Traveling overseas is an adventure. Having traveled to many places in the world, my advice is to go where your heart desires. April would be a good time for Florida because it is spring and not too hot. There are many places to explore as tourists. Enjoy the planning for a celebration of your 50th birthday!
Hi. yeah Lord willing i’ll get to 50, lol! ๐คฃ
Our birthdays in April sound like a perfect time, as Sarah really loves the heat and comes alive in the sunshine…But she doesn’t like it too burning hot. Florida and the deep south has always been a choice for us as of all the music down there, and the fact we’ve never quite gotten to the USA. We’ve been to Mexico and the Caribbean but not USA! ๐
We’ve got lots to think about, lol.
Yes, you will enjoy Florida and the USA.
