🤔My Thoughts…
Last Saturday Sarah & i were buying Christmas cards at our local Christian book store when a man asked the worker “Do you have a CD which has funeral songs on? I conduct a lot of funerals and i’ve tried all the other shops in town, then they told me to try the Christian shop:. He said it wouldn’t be for a Christian though….
My mind was racing by this point and i said to Sarah “Now that’s a question you don’t hear very often….if at all”.
On leaving the shop i said to Sarah “That could be a difficult playlist to make as for us, it’s a Glorious celebration as death has no sting(1 Corinthians 15:55). And to know we will be absent from body and present with the Lord(2 Corinthians 5:8)……Or for those without God and no Hope(Ephesians 2:12)”it will be the most terrible time of their life”,
The shop didn’t have a CD funeral album…
I said to Sarah “I only have 1 Hymn so far that i would like to play at my funeral and that’s ‘When i survey the Wondrous Cross(Isaac Watts version)’, i need to find a couple more…i will have to make a funeral playlist”.
Can you help me?? I’d love to hear about your fave Hymn/song suggestions. 😀
How Great Thou Art is a song that I have heard at funerals. It always touches my heart.
Awww i love that song! Such mighty words.
Thanks so much for your suggestion, i’ll add it to my playlist! 😀
You are very welcome. I love that song too. God bless you, Steve!
I’ve thought about this before, and when I decide, then I find others I life better. But in general, almost any of them will do just fine 🙂
*like
Lol, yeah i always stumble across another song i’d like on my playlist, then think maybe i’ll have to extend the funeral to fit them all in….or have 6 services like Charles Spurgeon! 😀
HAHA!
We sang this at my Dad’s funeral…he loved it. Mansion Over The Hilltop
I’ve got a mansion just over the hilltop,
In that bright land where we’ll never grow old;
And someday yonder we will never more wander,
But walk the streets that are purest gold.
Awww such Glorious words. Thank you so much for sharing this song, i have never heard of it before and i’m going to check it out! 😀
Thanks so much for taking time to read, like and comment, i’m so blessed to meet you here. 😀
Blessed Assurance — my favorite gospel song.
Oh yes! How did this slip my mind…and my playlist! 😀
Thanks for your hymn, so blessed to hear from you. 😀
How about “When Morning GIlds the Sky”” And though it’s a little long – “The Hallelujah Chorus”. We’ve lost the idea that death is only a door into glory – at least for the Christian. That those who have died in Christ are not “gone,” but have simply left the room for a minute, and we shall soon join them.
Amen! Once again i’ve never heard “When Morning GIlds the Sky”…but i’ve just read the lyrics…Wow what a powerful and Hope filled Hymn….May Jesus Christ be praised! 😀
I’m learning so much from you all, thank you. 😀
I know I’m just an old geezer, but there are a lot of hymns fallen by the wayside which have wonderful lyrics.
Lol, yes i know, and i hope to find them and learn them on guitar to play at church. The words are amazing and not heard much today at all. 😀
You could probably find some old hymnals for sale in used book stores or in yard sales.
As a Christian, I see it as a party celebrating life and a homecoming. One is at home with Daddy God and the Lord Jesus. The music would include the happiest worship music, honoring God and Jesus.Perhaps the song Christ Arose by Robert Lowry. Celebrate! Triumph in the love of God, redemption and rejoicing in the goodness of God!
Amen! How can we not praise Him for what He has done for us! 😀
What a Glorious day it will be! 😀
Thanks for leaving such a Hope filled comment. God bless you.
