Portsmouth Cathedral

Description

I took this photo of Portsmouth Cathedral when we travelled down for our friend Lynda’s ordination.

TheΒ Cathedral Church of St Thomas of Canterbury, Portsmouth, commonly known asΒ Portsmouth Cathedral, is theΒ Church of EnglandcathedralΒ of theΒ Diocese of Portsmouth,Β EnglandΒ and is located in the heart ofΒ Old Portsmouth. It is the seat of theΒ Bishop of Portsmouth.

The Anglican cathedral is one of the two cathedral churches in the city, the other being theΒ Roman CatholicΒ Cathedral of St John the Evangelist, PortsmouthΒ which is located about one mile to the north. (Read more)

Description

Photos taken during a walk around the beautiful epsom common.Β

Quote from website:Β We are a Church of England (Anglican) parish church in a beautiful area of Epsom, Surrey. We are part of theΒ Guildford Diocese,Β which covers much of Surrey and part of North-east Hampshire. We also have responsibility forΒ Christ Church on the Wells, our church plant, which meets on a Sunday at the community centre on the Wells estate (the part of Epsom where Epsom Salts once came from!)

We are also part of the Epsom Group Ministry, a confederation of Anglican churches in Epsom, which includes the churches ofΒ St Martin with St Stephenon the Downs, and St Barnabas. Along with the Group Ministry, we also have a very good relationship withΒ Epsom Methodist Church, in the centre of Epsom.

Our beautifulΒ Victorian churchΒ (do have a look at theΒ slide showΒ or theΒ photo gallery!) has been home for many years to a lively Christian community. We hope that, if you are able to visit us, you will find space here to discover more about God and the Christian faith, time to pray and reflect, and also the opportunity to make new friends.
