How great is the contrast between that forgiveness to which we lay claim from God towards us, and our temper towards others!ย God, we expect, will forgive us great offences, offences many times repeated; and will forgive them freely, liberally, and from the heart.ย But we are offended at our neighbor, perhaps, for the merest trifles, and for an injury only once offered; and we are but half reconciled when we deem to forgive.ย Even an uncertain humor, an ambiguous word, or a suspected look, will inflame our anger; and hardly any persuasion will induce us for a long time to relent.

Indeed! Thank God He is not like us! But oh, how we need to be more like Him! Thanks for sharing. ๐
Amen!
i was leading a group on forgiveness this past week n one thing that i shared has been convicting me over n over is the whole, “forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do.”..they didn’t even know what they were doing, much less have a repentant heart, in fact after Jesus said that, they continued fighting over His clothing…yet we try to set up man-made rules for ppl to follow before we fully forgive and open the door to walking in fellowship with them. mercy!
Wow, amazing comment! Thanks so much for blessing my post with your inspiring words! ๐
Why is it so hard to forgiven with all we’ve been forgiven? thanks for the this post.
Great question! It’s so hard to get our heads around. Grace is so huge and amazing! ๐
“…and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” Matthew 6:12
