Self-Focused Pride

“It is amazing how little we know about ourselves. God has to take us through all kinds of failures to reveal the self-focused pride that lies dormant in the corners or our character.

The only way we can be of any use to God is to respond with discernment to our disappointments. Discernment leads us to truth- and the truth punctures our pride, all for His purpose of molding us to the image of His Son.”

  1. Actually, for me, I would remove the phrase “self-focused pride” from this quote. Pride is not my sin. Blindness to truth is my “sin” or self-deluding error. I remained married for 42 years, because I did not see the rampant sin in my husband’s life. My discernment to that disappointment has opened my blinded eyes.

    • Awww thanks so much for sharing some of your story here, It’s such a blessing for me to be able to read and connect with loving people as yourself. God bless you. 🙂
