Cappuccino, Chicken Panini & The Immeasurable Riches Of His Grace

It’s Tuesday morning again and this means…..Going to Roots Coffee Shop to get a Cappuccino and a Chicken Panini. But this time while i was sat, my mind drifted to the grim reaper tattoo on my leg. It’s a constant reminder of the position i was in when i got it, and the position i’m in now….Which is life or death!

As an unbeliever, i got it to simply look hard, and death was what people seemed to fear the most and they certainly didn’t like talking about it. So i thought this was the coolest thing…..Never knowing that God had already written about this. lol.

Ephesians 2:1-3 English Standard Version

2 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body[a] and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

But now sitting here sipping my Cappuccino thinking….i still have the tattoo and yet i’m in a totally different position. Born again, a new creation….Not by anything i did, but by the Grace of our Lord Jesus. Unbelievable!

Ephesians 2:4-10 English Standard Version

By Grace Through Faith

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Each time i remember this tattoo on my leg, i remember that death has no sting for the Child of God…..

1 Corinthians 15:55-57 English Standard Version

55 “O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”

56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I fail to describe the Joy and Peace this gives me, knowing he has saved me and i can trust in Him. I love the line from the old Hymn: On Christ the solid rock i stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

  1. We all wear tattoos of many different types, don’t we? I thank God for the before and after! He is so good. He uses our pasts and redeems all we give to Him. So grateful for your journey and your heart for Him. Thanks, Brother!

    • Awwww Heidi, i’d be still lost and without God and without Hope!
One of my fave parts of the Bible is “But God”, i always use the phrase…..”When i was fully sighted, i was completely blind….But now i’m blind i have never seen so clearly in my life!”

Do you something (other than the Bible, lol) that sends your mind racing back to remind you of the before and after?

      God bless you Heidi.

      • those of us who have a BC (before Christ) and an AD (living with Christ now) are a constant reminder to the world that Jesus still is in the business of performing miracles. What blows my mind, is that I am talking to you, on the other side of the world, and we both can relate as we know the Spirit. Keep going, Steve! Your passion and heart for our Jesus are contagious.

  2. Wow! Thank you thank you. Indeed the tattoo is now the reminder of the born-again life in its truest and fullest meaning. You pen and your blog are reality and TRUTH in CHRIST. Keep blogging man of God. You have much to bless this world with in life experience. Share it use it proclaim it. We need fire and passion from the ones who have lived the life. The ones who live life NOW. The Cappuccinos the chicken Paninis, the McDonalds the days at the beach. The love for our partners and ordinary life with an EXTRAORDINARY .God who Grace from the past carries us all through to His Grace in the future. Blessings.!..

    • Faye…..What a comment! I really don’t know how to respond to this except thanking God for a loving Sister in Christ who encourages and builds me up as only you can do. 😀

All i can do is live for the one who gave me Life. In my testimony page i say “My eyes are filling with tears as I write this section. I just can’t believe I’m sat here typing this. If it was up to me than I’d be dead”. I can’t tell you how true this is!! Even typing this comment to you almost overwhelms me, especially when i read your comment “Keep blogging man of God”. Wow, i wouldn’t even have a blog if it wasn’t for His Grace. Sometimes i fell it’s pointless, but i know sharing the Good News is all i can do , His Spirit will do the rest. I know it has Power unto Salvation as it Saved me!

  3. It seems the tattoo has now become a reminder of how much your life and being has changed – and how much God now plays a role in your life.

    • Hey Colline Thanks for stopping by and commenting! 😀
God has truly given me life, raising me up and removing the veil.
The tattoo always reminds me of this and is a great conversation starter……”Why do you have deathgrim reaper tattoo on your leg?”. I then reply “I’m glad you asked” and i start telling them my story! 😀
