I thought i would use “Castle Rising Castleβ for this weeks Weekly Photo Challenge: Abandoned.
Description
While on holiday at the lighthouse Me, Sarah & Brother Ben took a day trip to Castle Rising castle.Β IΒ gave Ben my big Nikon as Sarah &Β IΒ were doing an audio described tour provided by the ticket office for Β£1. It was a fun tour as the audio description was dramatised!Β IΒ still got to get my compact camera out and shoot the shots above! π

Castle Rising CastleΒ is a ruinedΒ castleΒ situated in the village ofΒ Castle RisingΒ in theΒ EnglishΒ county ofΒ Norfolk. It was built in about 1138 byΒ William d’Aubigny, 1st Earl of Arundel, who also ownedΒ Arundel Castle. Much of its square keep, surrounded by a defensive mount, is intact. It is currently owned byΒ Lord Howard of Rising, a descendant of William d’Aubigny.
Castle RisingΒ is aΒ villageΒ andΒ civil parishΒ in theΒ EnglishΒ countyΒ ofΒ Norfolk. It is best known as the location ofΒ Castle Rising Castle, which dominates the village. The village is situated some 8 kilometres (5.0Β mi) north-east of the town ofΒ King’s LynnΒ and 60 kilometres (37Β mi) west of the city ofΒ Norwich.TheΒ River BabingleyΒ skirts the north of the village separating Castle Rising from the site of the lost village ofΒ Babingley.[1]
