While on holiday at the lighthouse Me, Sarah & Ben took a day trip to Castle Rising castle.Ā IĀ gave Ben my big Nikon as Sarah &Ā IĀ were doing an audio described tour provided by the ticket office for Ā£1. It was a fun tour as the audio description was dramatised!Ā IĀ still got to get my compact camera out and shoot the shots above! š
Castle Rising CastleĀ is a ruinedĀ castleĀ situated in the village ofĀ Castle RisingĀ in theĀ EnglishĀ county ofĀ Norfolk. It was built in about 1138 byĀ William d’Aubigny, 1st Earl of Arundel, who also ownedĀ Arundel Castle. Much of its square keep, surrounded by a defensive mount, is intact. It is currently owned byĀ Lord Howard of Rising, a descendant of William d’Aubigny.
Castle RisingĀ is aĀ villageĀ andĀ civil parishĀ in theĀ EnglishĀ countyĀ ofĀ Norfolk. It is best known as the location ofĀ Castle Rising Castle, which dominates the village. The village is situated some 8 kilometres (5.0Ā mi) north-east of the town ofĀ King’s LynnĀ and 60 kilometres (37Ā mi) west of the city ofĀ Norwich.TheĀ River BabingleyĀ skirts the north of the village separating Castle Rising from the site of the lost village ofĀ Babingley.[1]
