IReminisce: The Retreat, Acle, Norfolk

Wow!!! I can’t believe it’s been 9 years since Me, Sarah & Bruce THE Boxer stayed in this log cabin for a week in Acle, Norfolk.

I remember Sarah had bought me the Baby Taylor acoustic guitar a few months earlier for Christmas. I was so happy i couldn’t put it down…..So it came with us! 🙂

It was a lovely relaxing holiday. I played guitar on the porch while Sarah sat in the hot tub for most of the week. Bruce enjoyed long walks and pretending to be a guard dog! 🤣

Daily Prompt: The Name’s The Thing

Today’s Daily Prompt: The Name’s The Thing

“Have you ever named an inanimate object? (Your car? Your laptop? The volleyball that kept you company while you were stranded in the ocean?) Share the story of at least one object with which you’re on a first-name basis.”

I don’t normally have enough to say to participate in the daily prompts, but this one got my attention. I quickly asked Sarah the question, and she doesn’t name objects, and i could only think of 2 objects that has a name:

1, Big Bertha!

This is what i call my Nikkor 80-400mm zoom lens, especially when i have to carry it around and wish i just had my iPhone!! 🙂 I can’t ever remember calling it anything else!

2, Toni

This is what i’ve always called my 1995 Taylor GAWS (Grand Auditorium Walnut Spruce)acoustic guitar, because the tone this thing produces is just fantastic! I remember 6 years ago when my guitar teacher and i went to buy my first pro spec acoustic guitar. As soon as i played & heard it among all of the others, it was mine! 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Texture

This week, share a texture found in an unexpected place. It could be made of natural materials, as in these images, or with man-made objects.

A black and white photo of my Taylor Koa K22 with lots of textured shadows

I thought this weeks theme was an ideal opportunity to post a photo of my Taylor K22ce acoustic guitar, which is made from the exotic tropical wood Hawaiian Koa. I just love the textures of this beautiful wood.

Photo taken today using my iPhone 5s and edited with FX Photo Studio Pro on my mac.

Description from the Taylor Guitars website:

Hawaiian Koa

Origin: The Big Island of Hawaii

As a tropical hardwood, a koa top will initially project a bright and focused tone, especially together with koa back and sides, but as it’s played, it matures into an increasingly warm, rich, sweet sound with healthy overtone “bloom,” especially in the midrange.  resonant tone.

On my recent Sunshine Award post, I answered the following question:

Q. What is your favourite pattern’

A.’Macassar Ebony’

I thought afterwards that maybe some people would knot know about this stunning exotic wood that is sometimes used to make acoustic guitars. So I thought I would take some photos of my Taylor custom acoustic guitar.

I feel so blessed to own this guitar and be ably to play my chords for the Lord on such a beautiful instrument
