“And so seated next to my father in the train compartment, I suddenly asked, “Father, what is sexsin?”
He turned to look at me, as he always did when answering a question, but to my surprise he said nothing. At last he stood up, lifted his traveling case off the floor and set it on the floor.
Will you carry it off the train, Corrie?” he said.
I stood up and tugged at it. It was crammed with the watches and spare parts he had purchased that morning.
It’s too heavy,” I said.
Yes,” he said, “and it would be a pretty poor father who would ask his little girl to carry such a load. It’s the same way, Corrie, with knowledge. Some knowledge is too heavy for children. When you are older and stronger, you can bear it. For now you must trust me to carry it for you.”

Amen! God’s Wisdom is vital, and so important when facing questions like that! 🙂
Steve, thanks for this post. We’ve shifted our worship schedule at our church so that children are in worship for the entire service, which I think is a very good thing. But there are times when I think about what I’m preaching from this angle — are there things I shouldn’t say with children in the sanctuary? Sometimes it’s just a matter of word choice. But some things do seem too heavy for children.
By the way, I’m grateful for your support of my blog! Thanks for reading!
peace, Pat
Hi Pat, sounds like you have a loving heart towards the children and it’s great to hear that you’re using wisdom to show how to reach out to them.
This quote is so insightful especially when society is dissolving the boundaries and trying to tell us that anything goes, but Gods Wisdom and Truth must come first. 🙂
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a great comment. God bless you. 🙂
Thanks for sharing. A beautiful illustration.
Thanks Steven! 🙂
Thank you, Steve
Wonderful illustration!
Thank you so much Michael! 🙂
I love that quote. I wish more parents, and more television network executives, had the wisdom of Mr. ten Boom.
Amen! Now that would be amazing! 🙂
