🤔My Thoughts…
Wow…Spurgeon, the prince of preachers really doesn’t mess about!
Man-made ministers!
From Spurgeon’s, “The Two Effects of the Gospel”
The ministry has been very often degraded into a ‘trade’.
They are ‘selected by man’, they are crammed with literature; they are educated up to a certain point; they are turned out ready dressed; and persons call them ‘ministers’.
I wish them all God-speed, every one of them; for as good Joseph Irons used to say, “God be with many of them, if it be only to make them hold their tongues.”
Man-made ministers are of no use in this world, and the sooner we get rid of them the better.
Hi Steve. I found this today and thought I would send it your way. I read this morning from a one-year devotional ,which relates to your post. The notes for 1 Peter 5:1-7 read: Peter describes several characteristics of good leaders in the church; 1. they realize they are caring for God’s flock, not their own, 2. they lead out of eagerness to serve-not out of obligation, 3. they are concerned for what they can give-not for what they can get, 4. they lead by example-not force.
Amen. Wow thank you so much Debbie for leaving me this great comment! 😀
I love how clear and simple the instructions are, and yet how complicated & confusing it becomes when tangled by pride and selfish ambition!
Once again…thanks Debbie for sharing and knowing it’d be something i’d like. God bless you. 😀
:-O
Wow!
Hi Debbie!
He certainly stunned me after reading this last night! He really doesn’t fluff out his words, you know exactly what he means. I think that’s why i like his quotes and preaching.
I have found a few more of his quotes through my studies etc, but i’m not sure i’m brave enough to post them, lol. They make this one seem fluffy! 😀
As always…thanks for taking time to read, like and have a chat with me here. Your loving Brother, Steve 😀
