Calm Like A Bomb!

A bowl of the Chick pea salad with a wooden guitar spoon

My lovely wife Sarah has just cooked and tried out the “Chick Pea, Potato & Spinach salad” (with Chilli Turbo) for RNIB’s magazine diabetic recipe section. They wanted me to take the photos for the magazine. They didn’t use this particular photo (my fave)  as they didn’t like my sick wooden guitar spoon!  It tasted great and i’d definitely have it again, but was almost too spicy as it nearly blew my head off! I would rename it “Calm like a bomb”!!! 😀

Praise To The Sound Of Strings

Psalms Logo

Psalm 92:1-4 (VOICE)

How good it is to give thanks to the Eternal and to praise Your name with song, O Most High; To speak of Your unfailing love in the morning and rehearse Your faithfulness as night begins to fall.
How good it is to praise to the sound of strings—lute and harp—the stirring melodies of the lyre. Because You, O Eternal One, thrill me with the things You have done, I will sing with joy in light of Your deeds.

Not afraid to die

This song came to me as I was with Sarah at another Eric Bibb concert, we were sat very high up in the eaves of Cadogan Hall and I felt a sudden sense of danger. I pictured the whole place collapsing and I was trapped under all of the seats etc.

When we got home I picked up my acoustic guitar and this song (lyrics & chords) just came straight out. I havn’t edited it since and this happened around 2005.

Not afraid to die

Music & Lyrics by Steve Rebus

Verse 1 G, D/F#, A Asus

On that fateful night

In Cadohan Hall

Eric Bibb’s Blues filling wall to wall.

Verse 2

A big explosion

And you were scared

But I was the one trapped beneath the stairs

(Chorus) Dsus, G, D/F#, G, A

Please save yourself, before it’s too late

Please save yourself, but don’t you cry

Because I got the Lord in my heart…..I’m not afraid to die

Verse 3

You let go of my hand

With tears on your face

The look in your eyes, as you left this place

Verse 4

I can feel the heat

Of the flames on my skin

The creak from the roof as it finally caved in

(Chorus)

Please save yourself, before it’s too late

Please save yourself, but don’t you cry

Because I got the Lord in my heart…..I’m not afraid to die

Solo

Verse 5

Remember me

And the life we had

Share your smile and never be sad

(Chorus)

Please save yourself, before it’s too late

Please save yourself, but don’t you cry

Because I got the Lord in my heart…..I’m not afraid to die

When you’ve got the Lord in your heart…..don’t be afraid to die

I am not sure if this is an outpouring of my love for Sarah and how I would die for her, or if its trying to show how much inner peace I feel now I follow Jesus, maybe its both?!

Please comment and let me know your thoughts! 😀

Description

I really don’t like to be on the other side of the camera lens as I have very poor blurry sight and no central vision, so I can never see the photographer or look into the camera which normally results with my eyes looking weird! lol, but after Sarah took this shot of me playing one of my favourite electric guitars and after I added a “Dramatic Black & White” effect she loved it and wanted me to post it for you guys to see.

I always find it funny looking at me playing guitar, as it looks like I am watching my fingers but I can’t even see my hands or guitar! 😀
