Steve, when I notice the differences in attitudes and convictions from the past compared to today I tend to be shocked. Not so much at the differences but more so at the devolution over time of fortitude of all types. Great post, thank you for it.
Amen! Every single day as i read through the lives and sermons of the men of God through the Puritan and Spiritual Awakenings, i’m simply stunned by the lengths they’ll go to for proclaiming and defending the Truth of the Gospel that they really were not ashamed of knowing it’s the power of God to Salvation.
Like you, the first thing i’m noticing is the black and white difference between those men and women and the fear of mentioning Truth from our pulpits(here in Surrey, England, UK) in case it may offend someone who has come to be entertained. There is no power at all in this, and it certainly won’t Sanctify anyone in the Truth of the Word.
Thank you again for stopping by and taking time to read these posts and commenting with such wisdom, you’re such a blessing, God bless. 😀
I am thankful for your posts, and you are a blessing as well. God bless you also.
Amen!
Great to see you here Andy! 😀 Thanks for commenting.
Drastic!! 🙂
Hi Paul! Yeah they didn’t mess about in those days! 😀
Although the church of England didn’t either when they passed the laws that put John in prison for preaching Truth and holding conventicles etc. It was another crazy time in history!
I’m sure you’ve noticed with a lot of my recent quotes, that currently i’m really interested and studying/researching the 17th, 18th & 19th century Church history. It’s blowing my mind how firm and seriously these men & women stood boldly and the Word of God.
Loving all of your recent posts too(and your old ones of course, lol) 😀
God bless you Paul. 😀
Carry on – you have three fertile centuries there! And thank you for your kind comments.
Okay
Hi James, thanks for stopping by! 😀
