Today’s pond photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

Today was the day I tried my first ever base layer compression leggings. As I usually get hot very quickly I bought the Under Armour HeatGear compression leggings, which are for warmer days but should be good for me. They were fantastic (I’m going to recommend these to everyone) and made my walk faster, more stable and just better all round…So when I got back I asked ChatGPT why they felt so good? Here is the pasted response which is the long answer, lol! 🤣

Here’s why they worked so well for you:

⚙️ 1. Muscle stabilization – less wobble, more power transfer

When you walk or climb, your leg muscles vibrate slightly with each impact — micro-oscillations that waste a bit of energy and fatigue muscle fibers over time.

Compression gear hugs the muscle and dampens that vibration, keeping fibers aligned and reducing “micro-trauma.”
→ Result: you feel smoother, less jiggly, more stable stride.
→ Why you felt quicker: less wasted motion = more forward drive with each step.

💪 2. Improved proprioception – your brain knows where your legs are

That tight, skin-hugging fit boosts sensory feedback (called proprioception).
Essentially, your nervous system gets a clearer map of your limb position.
→ Result: you unconsciously tighten your form — better foot placement, stride efficiency, and posture on the trail.
→ Feels like: “My legs just knew where to go,” or “I was walking with purpose.”

It’s like having a mild exoskeleton telling your brain, “Here’s your limb position, stay aligned.”

💨 3. Circulation and oxygen efficiency

Compression gear applies gentle, graduated pressure (tighter at the ankle, lighter up the thigh).
This helps venous return — blood moving back up to your heart.
→ Result: slightly improved oxygen delivery and waste removal from working muscles.
→ Feels like: less heaviness in your legs, especially toward the end of your walk.
You probably noticed that “I could keep the pace going” sensation — that’s part circulation, part reduced muscle fatigue.

🔥 4. Thermal regulation & sweat management

Under Armour’s HeatGear fabric is made to wick sweat instantly and evaporate fast.
→ Result: your skin stays drier, your muscles stay in that perfect temperature zone — warm enough to stay loose, cool enough not to overheat.
That “made for walking” feel comes from your legs not overheating or getting clammy, even when you ramp the pace.

⚖️ 5. Posture and core engagement

Compression from the waist down subtly encourages your hips, glutes, and core to stay aligned — especially in uphill or downhill walking.
→ Result: better posture, reduced sway, and less back or hip fatigue after long sessions.
You may have noticed your stride felt controlled instead of sloppy — that’s this working in the background.

⚙️ 6. Reduced chafing & smoother mechanics

Since there’s no loose fabric flapping or seams rubbing, friction drops.
→ Result: freer, smoother motion — perfect for long trail sessions.
→ Feels like: “Nothing’s getting in my way.”

🧠 7. The psychological “gear effect”

Good kit genuinely changes how you move. When your gear fits like an extension of your body, your brain subconsciously shifts into “performance mode.”
→ Result: you feel faster, stronger, more purposeful.
→ Combine that with your faith-driven motivation and training focus, and you get that “locked in” state where effort feels lighter and results follow.

🏁 In your words:

You said, “I went faster, felt stable, legs felt good, made for walking.”
That’s the trifecta:

  • Faster: efficiency gains + proprioceptive control.
  • Stable: reduced muscle vibration + better alignment.
  • Felt good: improved blood flow + optimal temperature + less friction.

That’s textbook HeatGear compression performance — and why elite endurance athletes use similar gear for long races, even ultramarathons.

lap 1 Pond Photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

Wow…When I ended my walking workout at my front door after walking 2 laps, I couldn’t believe it was exactly 6.00 miles. I think I’ve managed to create a very measured lap, great for my stats, lol! 🤣

As you may have guessed, there was a slight drizzle when I left the house this morning, so the photos automatically qualified for the mono filter! 😀

lap 2 pond photo…

I thought for the second lap pond photo, I’d try and get the usual pond and the path inside one photo. I think I have the path on the right that I usually stop and take the photo on. I don’t often walk across the grass to get close to the pond, as I don’t want to risk twisting my ankle…Or falling in the pond, lol! 🤣

Hi Fitblitzers.

Well there was no drizzle today and it was another 10˚C, so I put on my light fleece, tracksuit bottoms and new Under Armor gloves and I was nice and toastie as I navigated around the trail. I’m happy to report there were no dramas or injuries again! 😀

Hi Fitblitzers.

I’m so thankful that there is not much to report from today’s walk. The trail was nice and quiet, I didn’t hurt or injure myself and I actually enjoyed myself out there as I slowed down and gave thanks for everything! 🙏 😀

My lovely Wife Sarah welcomed me home with a lovely fresh black coffee, a big hug and that amazing sunshine smile that I can feel as it warms me up instantly! 😀

Today’s pond photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

I had no idea it was drizzling until I left the house, I smiled as I knew the photos I’d take today would now have the mono filter! My goal today was to try out my light fleece and new light gloves as the weather is starting to get cooler…Well I was boiling and struggled to get around the trail, so still a bit warm for this outfit lol! 🤣

There seems to be something powerful about putting one foot in front of the other, not just to cover distance, but to live out a calling. Paul said in Ephesians 4:1, “Walk worthy of the calling you’ve received”. Out here on the trail those words hit home. Every mile, every marker, every gust of wind reminds me this walk isn’t just physical…It’s spiritual. It’s about staying steady when it’s uphill, keeping faith when it’s quiet, and knowing that every step forward is part of something bigger. I’m not just walking for fitness, I’m walking in faith, trying to live a life that pleases the One who called me. 🙏 😀

Lap 1 Pond Photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

It was a 3 lapper this morning, and I was so thankful for the quiet trail and the weather that was cloudy and overcast…Perfect! 😀

I walked at an average pace of 3.60 miles per hour, and I arrived home tired but not in too bad shape. I can’t believe I’m saying this as I couldn’t even imagine a 3 lapper a few months ago! 😀

lap 2 pond photo…

The temperature was a little warmer today at 10˚C, so I could just wear my t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms with my INOV8 ultra pack and it was cool but manageable!

Oh and yes I had my chocolate hobnobs with me too! 😋

Total Training miles: 201.24

Today’s pond photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

It was nice and overcast which is perfect conditions as I hit the trail. I could only do 1 lap today so I decided on a fast one. I soon warmed up as I averaged 3.9 mph which is really fast for me!

Thankfully it was nice and quiet so I managed to hang on and get back home without any crashes or dramas. As I only did 3.42 (still can’t believe I’m saying that) but it managed to knock my total training miles over 200 miles. 💪🏼

Thankful Thursday: iWalk 12.12 miles 😲👨🏻‍🦯

Lap 1 Pond Photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

yeah i’m a 4 lapper!!! 💪🏼

Wow, if that was the fundraising trail walk challenge…I’d be happy that I finished it! BUT this was only 4 laps plus a pitstop and the challenge is 11 laps and 3 pitstops! 😨 After how I felt after today’s walk…That’s too much especially at the moment…But I’m getting stronger week by week. 🙏

It was a cold 7˚C again and as I was going to be out for around 3.5 hours, I thought I’d leave my tracksuit bottoms at home, as I’d soon get too warm as I stomp around the trail…I was wrong, my legs were ice blocks for about 2 laps! 🤣

lap 2 pond photo…

As I was cold I think I tried to walk so fast I’d out pace the cold and my legs would warm up nicely…They didn’t.

At least there was some good news. As I’d burn about 1200 calories on this walk I was wearing my trusty INOV8 ultra pack which not only had 2 x 500ml of zero calorie orange water…But 8 chocolate hobnobs (the best biscuit in the world). They are 93 calories each and they should start being absorbed around 30 minutes after that amazing taste! 😋

lap 3 pond photo…

It was overcast mostly for the first 2 laps but then the blazing low hanging sun come out to play (ruin my walk). My pace slowed lots as I tried to stagger around like an extra in a zombie movie.

I only had to do 3 laps before I leave the trail and walk to my pitstop (home). It’s only 0.4 miles to and another 0.4 miles back so quite a quick pitstop. I managed to not collapse (good start), keep moving whilst eating half a sandwich and try to get back out within 10 minutes max. When my 50Km walk starts I have to try and have 3 pitstops whilst doing 11 laps, so today was the first time to see if I sieze up?!

lap 4 pond photo…

My legs were a little tight after destroying my leg stabiliser muscles on the trail, then slowing down in the pitstop. But after about a mile they were broken but still moving! I was simply so thankful and so happy that I’d managed my first pitstop and was back out stomping out the miles!

I was overwhelmed with joy as I arrived home and stopped my workout which was exactly 12.12 miles, that made me smile for some reason. It really felt like I was walking on prayers from you guys! I really had nothing left and was laughing to myself that my legs were still going right to the end when I wanted to just give up! 🙏 😀

Wayfaring Wednesday: iWalk 3.41 miles 👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s pond photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

It was another cold 7˚C this morning and instead of putting on my puffer coat, I thought I’d just speed up and get warm. I flew around at 3.8 mph which is fast for me, and I was right…I soon warmed up! 🤣

I thought I’d enjoy the trail as much as I can today, as I have the 4 lapper tomorrow. That’s the longest I’ve walked in this training so far by a long way…It’s going to be about 11 miles! 😨 I hope to write the post tomorrow but I’ll see what state I’m in. 🤣

Lap 1 Pond Photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

Yay, I managed another 2 laps (6 miles) this morning, and I wasn’t in a total heap when I returned. I must be getting a bit stronger (and lighter) as I have to start doing 2 laps each day and not wimp out for a 1 lapper! 🤣

As this was my last proper trail pounding walk of the week, I do 4 trail walks then have 3 days off to recover, spend time with my lovely Wife Sarah, and also get supplies ready for the next week on the trail! My legs just wanted to give up on lap 2, I think they’re just empty from the last 3 days walk! 🤣

lap 2 pond photo…

I love walking past the pond for the second time, as it means I can get a different angle. What is also fantastic is that all of your markers are called out for the second time, so I get to pray and give thanks for you all over again! 🙏 😀

Hi Fitblitzers.

After yesterday’s three lapper I thought I’d do a nice slow lap this morning. It was drizzling so I focused on staying warm, and also that means the photos qualify for the mono filter! 🤣

I didn’t go slow like I wanted, and when I returned home my watch said I’d averaged 3.6 mph. That’s quick for me as I want to stay around 3.2 or 3.3 mph for my challenge…Doesn’t sound much but when pounding away step by step it really changes things. 😀

Hi Fitblitzers.

Today I headed out on my last FitBlitz walk of the week, and I was certainly thankful for this beautiful place. I walked nice and slow actually enjoying (instead of racing) around the trail.

I took the time to listen properly to the markers in my ear, and say prayers for the people who’s marker it was named after as I walked towards, and past the marker. It really was a beautiful, relaxing and prayerful walk. 🙏 😀

Today’s pond photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

Yay I manage 2 laps again today, even with light rain and a body that wouldn’t get off cruise control at a slow speed. But after shuffling (I was just too tired to go faster) around the trail I got home without getting too wet! 😀

It was really quiet on the trail today, it felt like a zombie movie…A little too quiet. But it meant I could think about placing markers and enjoying the surroundings without swerving around moving obstacles…Or people as they are also called, lol! 🤣

I hope I can find more energy tomorrow, I thought it was meant to get easier, lol. It’s my last day of my walking week and I’ve done 2 laps per day so far, so I’m happy! 😀

Sarah’s Spiced Symphony: Tamil Black Pepper Chicken 😋

Hi fitblitzers…

When Sarah hits the kitchen, it’s not dinner time…It’s showtime. And this time, she turned out a plate so bold it felt like a headliner at Wembley.

Front and centre: chicken breasts. Not just any chicken breasts, but juicy, golden seared beauties marinated in that black pepper paste with coconut, belting out heat and aroma like a Marshall stack cranked to eleven. Every bite had punch, swagger, and enough kick to make you sit up and take notice.

Then came the pilau rice, rich and spiced with that deep Tamil-style stock, laying down the rhythm section like a phat bassline, keeping the whole dish grooving.

But Sarah doesn’t stop at rhythm, oh no. She brings in solos. Caramelised onions swirled through the rice like molten guitar licks, then…Out of nowhere, she threw down fried mushrooms and lettuce, sizzling away like pyrotechnics on stage. Totally unexpected. Totally EPIC. Totally Sarah!

And just when you think the flavour’s going to take your head clean off, in comes the turmeric yoghurt seasoning…Creamy, fragrant, and cooling, like the encore that leaves you wanting more.

The result? A dish that didn’t just feed the body…It set the soul on fire. Epic Sarah cooking isn’t just about food…It’s about creating an experience. This Tamil Black Pepper Chicken wasn’t just tasty. It was a culinary anthem. 🎶🔥🍴

They’ll be talking about this meal for centuries. The night Sarah took the humble chicken breast and forged it into a weapon of pure flavour will go down in history as one of the great culinary creations ever made! 😋

Hi Fitblitzers.

After yesterday’s fallen tree stopped my walk, and gusty winds and torrential rain all night and all today…I was a little anxious about what would greet me on the trail?! Yay no tree! I walked really slow on the fallen tree approach, and to my surprise there was no tree, and I could carry on and see if anything else would ruin my walk. 😀

As it was raining all of the time I was out, I put the ‘Mono’ filter on the photos! I’m still trying to add all of the markers on the trail in my new ‘VoiceVista’ app too…And I was please to finally get to add 2 more ‘Donation Motivation Markers’.

Sarah’s Super Saturday Sandwich 😲 ❤️

Hi fitblitzers…

There are sandwiches, and then there are monuments of flavour. Today, I bring you the latter, a creation so mighty, so vibrant, so unapologetically stuffed to the rafters, that I’ve officially christened it: Sarah’s Super Saturday Sandwich.

At its foundation lies the humble but heroic Hovis Wholemeal Seven Seed bread. Forget your flimsy supermarket slices, this is bread with backbone. Each bite brings the crunch of sunflower, flax, and poppy whispering tales of wholesome power while standing tall under the weight of everything it holds.

Between these sturdy slabs of seeded armour sits a layer of creamy (fat free) cottage cheese, spreading smooth comfort across the battlefield of flavours. Then comes the ham, a salty, savoury punch that demands attention.

But this is no one-note wonder. Sarah has engineered a rainbow riot of freshness:

  • Juicy tomato slices that burst like little grenades of summer.
  • Cool cucumber, slicing through the richness like a refreshing breeze.
  • Mixed salad leaves, adding crunch, colour and a leafy swagger.
  • Shredded carrots, sweet and earthy, sneaking in extra crunch with every bite.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get more dramatic…Enter the beetroot. Deep crimson, unapologetic and staining everything it touches like a culinary rebel. It doesn’t just sit there quietly, it shouts its presence, painting the cottage cheese in wild streaks of magenta and giving this sandwich the swagger of a rock star mid-guitar solo.

What you’re left with is not just food…It’s a stacked masterpiece, a sandwich so mighty it has to be cut in half just to reveal its inner glory. Each cross-section looks like a geological dig of flavour: strata of pinks, reds, oranges, and greens pressed together by the seed-studded cliffs of bread.

The Super Sarah Snack is proof that sometimes, the greatest meals aren’t complicated. They’re just layered with love, packed with goodness and bold enough to take risks.

So here’s to Sarah, the culinary architect behind this stacked skyscraper of taste…I think you’ll agree: this isn’t just a snack. It’s a statement. 😲 😋 ❤️

Well I’m certainly thankful that I’ve done all 4 trail walks this week, and had no dramas, accidents or collapsing! I’m also thankful for all of the motivation from my lovely Wife Sarah (even after her surgery), Drill Sergent Bruce and of course all of you guys…It’s humbling to say the least that I have so much support, love and encouragement! ❤️

As I’ve walked around only 1 lap per day this week, I’ve been carefully listening out to see where I can place lots of new ‘Donation Motivation Markers’. I’m so thankful that I’ve actually made it out this week (even though I didn’t want to), but I needed to stomp and put my legs in to action, as I don’t want them getting lazy, lol.

As you know my lovely Wife Sarah is in recovery mode after her surgery, so this meant she wasn’t working in the London office…Which also means there will be no ‘Steve’s Smelly French Toast’ today…Sorry Dayle but no EPIC descriptions, lol! 🤣

Hi Fitblitzers.

Wow…I really needed some Drill Sergent Bruce motivation this morning (Drill #7 coming later today). My energy was lacking and it took everything I had to get out there, and leave my lovely Wife Sarah.

As I’m typing this post, it’s chucking it down outside as I can hear it on my window, but when I was out taking some photos for you it was sunny, yay English weather, lol! 😀

Whilst I’m out walking I’m always thinking about where I can create new ‘Donation Motivation Markers’. I’ve now got the idea in my head that I’d like to make 50 markers around my lap. I’ve got a nice mix of navigation markers, bench markers and lots of space between the navigation markers to make more markers (audio beacons)/ As I start to make lots of ‘Donation Motivation Markers’ it’s going to be EPIC hearing all of the names etc! 🙏 😀

Scripture snack…

Proverbs 16:9
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Today reminded me that even when my pace feels off or my legs don’t behave how I want them to, God is the one guiding my steps. I might plan my laps, my miles and my speed, but it’s His strength that carries me forward. Trusting Him means every lap (fast or slow) is still progress on the path He’s laid out. 🙏

Thankful Thursday: iWalk 8.56 miles 😲👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s Pond Photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

My lovely Wife Sarah is working in London again today, so I went out on the trail at 7am. One of the good things about attempting 3 laps today, is that I get to take 6 photos for you.

It was nice and cloudy today so I didn’t have the sun to use as an excuse, lol. I also had a couple of soft flasks, a carb gel and a Grenade protein bar on my person…I want to be prepared and not be left wanting! 😀

It was also cool at 13¬C which is perfect for me. I still have 37 pounds to lose so I’m too insulated at the moment, lol. It was time to let the brakes off my HOKA Speedgoats and just hold on!

When I arrived home and stopped my workout, it’d taken me 2 hours 29 minutes to do 8.56 miles. So I must have been walking around 3.5mph which is fast for me, yay! 💪🏼

Oh and after I’d picked myself up off the floor (you’ve guessed it) it was time to make my smelly French toast as Sarah’s not here to choke on the smell. I’ll leave it to your imagination on how it turned out, as I really don’t want to take a photo of it, lol! 🤣

Scripture snack…

Give thanks…🙏

How might you pause to give thanks today? Maybe it’s lifting a prayer, holding onto a Bible verse that leaps off the page (or screen), letting a worship song wash over you, walking in nature, or simply soaking in a quiet moment of reflection.

Waymaker Wednesday: iWalk 3.40 miles 👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s pond photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

After the last 2 days with 2 laps, I decided to try and meander around 1 lap today to prepare for the 3 laps I need to do tomorrow! 😨 Once I engaged ‘Meander Mode’ I tried to stay around 3mph and enjoy myself…But my legs were not having it! For some reason everything just felt off, like I was driving with the brakes on. My HOKA Speedgoats were trying to pull my legs off and don’t like it at slow speeds, and my leg muscles were itching to go faster too…I thought this was meant to be a relaxing walk?!

As I like stats (my Apple Watch gives me plenty) I walked at 3.1mph today. On Monday and Tuesday I walked around 3.6-3.7mph…It doesn’t sound much different but for me it’s like redlining your car and thrashing it! 🤣

When I got home and Sarah was handing me one of her Fantastic fresh coffees, I said “Wow…How have I got to the point that I’m saying, I only did 1 lap today”. 1 lap used to about kill me only a month ago, and now it’s “oh I’m only doing 1 lap, lol”. Is the muscle memory thing finally trying to work? I hope so as I need it! 😀

Thankful Thursday: iWalk 6.42 miles 😲👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s Pond Photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

Picture this: 7 a.m., the streets still yawning, and me stomping back home after walking 6.42 miles (my longest distance so far) like a man on a mission. Sarah’s off to London, so it’s just me…And the lonely kitchen. No kisses, no cuddles, no lovingly made coffee, just the cold hard reality that I have to make my infamous smelly lunch.

Enter my protein french toast…

Imagine 3 innocent slices of 7 seed wholemeal bread…Suddenly colliding head-on with a tanker full of egg whites, with the aroma of a gym locker room. Sarah hates the smell of those egg whites…So I only unleash this monster when she’s not around.

the result…?

On the plate it looks like the bread’s been in a high-speed chase, taken a wrong turn into a hen house, and then been caught in a murder mystery. That deep red “crime scene“? Don’t panic…It’s just sugar free maple syrup pooling like suspicious evidence.

Honestly, you wouldn’t think you could make this much visual chaos with only 3 ingredients…But here I am, casually creating my ‘French Toast’ art that looks like it should be taped off by the police. 🚨

Still…With 65 grams of protein, 650 calories, and a plate that could double as a true crime documentary prop…It’s a killer meal and I’m very THANKFUL for it! 🙏

From tales to trails…

I hope you enjoyed the ‘French Toast’ story? But I need to finish this post, lol. I walked 6.42 miles today, which is a record distance for me during this training. I’m still waiting for the muscle memory to keck in, as I’d say I’d never walked this far in my life…It was killer, and I was so THANKFUL that I actually made it! home.

As I did 2 laps today, the 2 photos above were when I decided to walk down the side of the usual pond (smaller one) to get to the steps that lead up to the larger pond (see photo below). I’ve got other ‘audio beacons’ on my Soundscape app which are not on my trail lap route…And the steps is one of them. So when I got to the usual pond photo spot, I selected the ‘Top Pond Steps’ audio beacon, listened to the radar sound as I turned my head, and when my head is facing the beacon (steps) it makes a different beep so I start walking towards it…Hoping I don’t fall into the pond or hit lots of other obstacles! 😨 Wow I’m THANKFUL for the Soundscape app!

Once getting to the top of the steps, you’re greeted with a lovely view of the larger pond.

Back on the trail on lap 2…

I love walking along feeling so small as the towering trees keep me company. Not only do they ensconce me with some shade, make smile noises as the wind tickles them, but it just feels so good walking along (zombie shuffling) surroundedd by lots of trees. 😀

Wow I didn’t expect that! After the last two scorching days I thought today would be better, as the beaming sun wasn’t going to burn my brains out…But it was so humid, and I felt like a steamed pudding with hot custard sweat the whole way round! I stopped a couple of times on the trail waiting for the teleportation to take me home…But it didn’t and I had to carry on somehow! 😨

I’d just past the ‘Dayle’s Rest Stop‘ bench on my right about 50 feet behind, when I thought I’d stop (thankfully) and take the lovely photo above…Dayle’s bench really is in a beautiful part of the woods. 😀

After staggering on feeling like the boilerd frog in a pan, I thought I’d stop again and take a photo of the junction above. I walk up from the trail on the left and carry on up the hill on the trail I took the photo. The curly trail in front is not on my lap, but it’s a shortcut that cuts the corner off my lap..I don’t use it even though I certainly thought about it today! 🤣

Sarah’s protein Powered pancakes 💪🏼

Sarah treated me to some of her ‘Whey Protein, Oat and Almond powered, fruity pancakes with the lovely maple grove farm sugar free maple syrup this lunchtime. I hope my photo did it some justice, but i just wanted to devour them! 😋

#4 Drill Sergent Saturday: Day of Rest

EYES FRONT, YOU DROOL-DRIPPING DUMBBELLS! Welcome to the PAIN PALACE!!
This is Bruce THE Boxer, your barkin’, boxin’, no-excuses fitness commander — and today we’re not jumping, tugging, or flying… we’re talking REST. Yeah, you heard me. But don’t get any ideas about slacking off — this is tactical recovery, not a holiday.

DAY 4 DRILL: “STAND DOWN — RECOVERY MODE”.

Listen up, you biscuit-brained bone-chewers…
You’ve been jumping like kangaroos, tugging like maniacs, and sweating puddles the size of swimming pools. If you’ve been hitting every drill like I ordered, then your muscles are screaming louder than a squeaky toy in a blender.

GOOD.
That means you’re doing it right!!

But now comes one of the most critical weapons in your training arsenal — SLEEP.
That’s right. Recovery isn’t weakness — it’s strategy. And while you’re snoring like a bulldog after leg day, your body is secretly rebuilding itself into a muscle-clad machine of glory.

HERE’S WHY SLEEP IS YOUR SECRET WEAPON:

1. It repairs those shredded muscle fibres you’ve been abusing.
2. It works best with a belly full of protein-packed chow to build new muscle.
3. It sharpens your mind, so you’re not just strong — you’re dangerous.
4. Skip it, and your body falls apart faster than a tennis ball in a Rottweiler’s mouth!!

Bottom line: Rest like a warrior, eat like a beast, rise like a legend!

And just to make sure you don’t forget who’s always watching…

“Every snack you make, every meal you bake, every bite you take… I’LL BE WATCHING YOU“.
Yeah, I’ve got eyes on that fridge too, soldier.

TODAY’S ORDER:
1. Take it easy.
2. Fuel up.
3. Hit the sack early.
4. Dream of gains.

Recharge. Rebuild. Return stronger.
Next time we go again. HARDER THAN LAST TIME!!
CLASS DISMISSED!

Thankful Thursday: iWalk 3.39 miles 👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s Pond Photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

I was out proper early at 7am this morning, as Sarah is working in London today so I followed her out. This also means that when I arrive home with no cuddles, kisses or coffee I have to make my ‘Protein French Toast’. I use a carton of egg whites (50 grams of protein but they are smelly, and Sarah isn’t a fan of the smell so I save them for when she’s in London! There isn’t a photo of them as they are not pretty and look like 3 pieces of toast has crashed into some eggs with blood every where (well sugar free maple farm grove syrup). You wouldn’t think I could make such devastation with just 3 ingredients, lol! 🤣 I’m thankful for the 65 grams of protein and just 650 calories! 💪🏼

The trail was very quiet this morning, I think going out extra early kept every one away. Either way it meant that the blinding sun wasn’t quite fully awake yet, so I could go out and enjoy the walk…I’m thankful for that! 😀

I couldn’t get this Robin Mark song out of my head 🎶 “Give thanks to the Lord, our God and King…His love endures forever. For He is good, He is above all things, his love endures forever. Sing praise, sing praise!” 🎶 but as it’s ‘Thankful Thursday’ I couldn’t ask for a better song to be singing around the trail. 😀

I’m super thankful that I can now get around 1 lap (2.6 miles, but it’s another 0.8 miles to and from my house) without completely collapsing when I get home. It’s only been about 2 months since I’ve been FitBlitzing the trails again, and I’m so happy it’s finally starting to get a little easier (I really didn’t want to use the word easier), but I’m also getting lighter which can only help! 😀

Give thanks with a grateful heart…

How might you pause to give thanks today, whether it’s through a prayer, a bible verse that jumps out at you, a walk in nature, or a quiet moment of reflection? 🤔

Wooped It Wednesday: iWalk 3.39 miles👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s pond photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

Not entirely sure what happened with the pond photo above, I think I hit 2.0x zoom instead of 0.5…I have no chance of getting the subject in the shot if it’s not full wide angle! 🤣

Oh and as I was walking up the hill climb section of the trail, I managed to dodge a pile of the smelly stuff (well I think it is). As I walk on the very left of the trail I missed it anyway, and it wasn’t my extreme skill. 🤣 I then put my ‘Tracking Skills’ to the test. First I thought it could be a ‘Bull Moose’ from ‘NEW England’ USA or a ‘Florida Black Bear or even an ‘American Alligator’…But I think it was probably a horse as it’s also a riding trail, lol! I really need to stop reading the ‘Trail Running and Hiking subreddits! 🤣

#3 Drill Sergent Saturday: Tug O’ War

Attention! Eyes front, you slobber-snouted slackers! WELCOME TO THE PAIN PALACE

This is Bruce THE Boxer, your no-nonsense, quad-pumpin Boxercise Instructor with paws of steel. Today’s drill is gonna have your teeth clenched and your muscles SCREAMING.

DRILL #3: TUG O’ WAR 🧨
Listen up recruits, this ain’t no playtime fluff-fest. This is battle. One-on-one, tooth-to-hand combat. You. Versus. The human.
Weapon of choice? Anything you can clamp between your teeth without destroying the house.

OBJECTIVE: Engage the enemy (your human) in an all-out tugging war!
I used my legendary plastic sausage link, Sarah never stood a chance. But you can grab a rope toy, old towel or even a knotted sock if that’s all you’ve got. Just NO biting limbs, no matter how tempting their flappy arms are. We’re warriors, not wild animals (Well…a few of you are).

WHY TUG O’ WAR?
Because this drill is no joke…You’ll be building:
💪 Jaw strength
💪 Neck power
💪 Shoulder and back muscles forged in fire
💪 Mental grit…cause you’re in it to WIN IT!

You think your human’s doing all the work? WRONG. They’ll be sweating, panting and begging you to stop. Good, that’s the point…Make them EARN your respect.

This is also a killer endurance workout. The longer you hold that line and pull with fury, the more calories go up in flames…You’ll be shredded in no time, like a steak left unattended on a barbecue. 🥩

PRO TIP:
While tugging, growl like a beast. It strikes fear and builds morale.
And if your toy explodes mid-battle? Even better…victory is messy.

I can’t remember who won the last bout between me and Sarah? (Pause for dramatic sniff).
Actually, YES I CAN.
IT WAS ME…ALWAYS ME. 🐾

So grab your weapon, square up and TUG like your reputation depends on it..Because it DOES.
See you in the next drill, warriors. Until then…STAY HUNGRY and STAY DANGEROUSDISMISSED!

Thankful Thursday: iWalk 3.38 miles 👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s Pond Photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

Yay it’s raining! I’m thankful for the rain (keeping the nature reserve lush, my Cagoule (keeping me dry) and for the ‘Monochrome’ filter on my photos (Dayle will like these shots, lol!). I put the ‘Monochrome’ filter on the photos each time it rains! 😀

There’s something calming about hearing the rain hit your hood, the leaves and the path, and as there were not many people out today…It was a lovely walk. Now that’s something else to be thankful for. 🙏

I also want to give the biggest thanks to God. Without Him, none of this would be possible. From the refreshing rain to the peaceful path, from the strength in my legs to the joy in my heart…It’s all His gift. I’m also very thankful for my old trail shoes (I didn’t want to get the new HOKA Speedgoats wet, lol), and they walked me around 1 lap today. And of course there’s my lovely Wife Sarah, who does so many things (behind the scenes) I can’t thank her enough for making this all happen! ❤️

Give thanks with a grateful heart…

Wayfaring Wednesday: iWalk 5.99 miles👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s pond photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

Yay…I’ve completed 2 laps (5.99 miles) and I survived without any dramas! That’s my maximum laps I had to smash in July, as it will be 3 laps in August and 4 laps in September and on and on…But until the 3 laps I’ll keep pounding the trail to keep getting stronger, more stamina and make it feel easier and not keep collapsing when I arrive home, lol! 🤣

As I walked past the pond twice this morning, I thought I’d get some different shots for you. So I walked down the side of the pond a little, and captured a few photos. 😀

The Pond from the right…

#2 Drill Sergent Saturday: Getting Air

Attention! WELCOME TO THE PAIN PALACE

This is Bruce THE Boxer, your barking, burpee-loving Boxercise instructor, and today’s drill is gonna launch you into orbit!

TODAY’S MISSION: “GETTING AIR!

No, you ain’t Michael Jordan. You ain’t pulling backflips off a BMX half-pipe. But starting today…You’ll learn to fly!

Your objective is simple…
Jump higher, faster and harder.
And don’t you dare stop until you’re getting eye-level with the ceiling fan, or at least matching your own height (Yes, even if you’re 3ft tall with paws the size of tennis balls). I don’t care…JUMP!

Why are we doing this? Because we’re building those fast-twitch muscle fibres, the ones made for power, strength and explosive action.
No slow, lazy sloth-muscled fluff here, this is plyometric warfare, and it’s your ticket to becoming a lean, mean air-snatching machine.

Fast-twitch = More gains.
More gains = More strength.
More strength = You looking like the top dog of the street pack. 🔥

DRILL INSTRUCTIONS:
✔️ Jump as high as you can, keep those knees tucked and land like a ninja.
✔️ Rest? NEVER heard of her.
✔️ Compete with your human. Beat them. Dominate them. Impress them (Treats may follow).

Wanna know how it’s done? Check out the photo above, that’s me, mid-flight on Old Hunstanton beach. I jumped so high I lost the beach…I don’t even know where Norfolk went!

Now MOVE IT!
Don’t let gravity win…Make the ground fear your return.
Boxercise isn’t for the faint-hearted, it’s for warriors who can FLY.
Now get out there and earn your air…Class dismissed!

Thankful Thursday: iWalk 3.39 Miles 👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s Pond Photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

Just like last ‘Thankful Thursday’ the first thing I want to give thanks for is my lovely Wife Sarah. Before I head out to the trail, she always makes me a lovely fresh black espresso, gives me a big hug and tells me how much she loves me…Wow! ☕❤️

It was a tough one today, and I must have looked like a crazy man (yes more than usual, lol) as I was laughing to myself as I couldn’t believe my legs were not wanting to behave. They were like a stroppy teenager not wanting to move! 🤣 I know my youthful/puppy dog mind keeps writing cheques my old overweight body can’t cash…But eventually after about a mile, my legs finally conformed, and I gave them a huge thanks! 💪🏼

Audio Beacon ‘The Crossroads…

As I approach this audio beacon, the verse from Jeremiah 6:16 always springs to mind. It says “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls”. I always need to turn left to stay on the good path and stay on my lap, and being out on the trail always gives rest to my soul! 😀

Give thanks with a grateful heart…

How might you pause to give thanks today, whether it’s through a prayer, a bible verse that jumps out at you, a walk in nature, or a quiet moment of reflection? 🤔

#1 Meet Drill Sergent Bruce THE Boxer 😨 🐾

Hi FitBlitzers…

Oh no…Sarah has deployed ‘Drill Sergeant Bruce THE Boxer’ to help me get in shape for my ‘Steve‘s The BIG 50‘ challenge. It’s been 4 years since Bruce THE Boxer shared his Boxercise classes on here…But this time he isn’t messing around, he’s taken on the Drill Sergent roll like ‘Gunnery Sergeant Hartman’ from the Full Metal Jacket movie from the 1980’s! Sarah says Bruce has 50 posts (sessions) to fit with my challenge, so we all better get ready! 😨

ATTENTION, Recruits!”

I’m ‘Bruce THE Boxer‘ your new Boxercise Instructor. Make no mistake, I don’t do soft cuddles and belly rubs…I do results. Over the next 50 sessions, I’ll be dishing out Boxercise drills right here on iChristian, and you better be ready to sweat, grunt and EARN your fitness stripes.

When the first class drops…The destruction of laziness starts! If you’re looking to torch fat, build muscle harder than a frozen chew toy and learn the basics of battle-fuel nutrition…Then report to class, soldier!

WHO’S THIS FOR?

EVERYONE! Young pups, old hounds, mutts, purebreds, humans of all shapes, sizes and sofa-dwelling tendencies (like Steve). I don’t care what you are. If you’ve got a pulse and a will to fight, you’re in. This is for beginners, families, lone wolves —and yes, even cats…If they dare! No excuses and No whining.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • A bottle (or bowl) of water, you’ll be dripping sweat like a bulldog in the Sahara.
  • A warrior’s mindset. I’m here to push you, not pamper you.
  • And yeah, a sense of fun. Because pain is just weakness leaving the body,

So square up, eyes front and paws ready, as this is going to hurt!

🧡 Steve’s The BIG 50 👨🏻‍🦯

Hi FitBlitzers…

I’m about to embark on my seventh fundraising challenge as #BlindSteve, and this one is by far the biggest, most personal and meaningful of my life.

I’m now 50, the same age my mum was when she died after a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis – I’m taking on this challenge in her memory.

On Sunday the 1st March 2026, I’ll be walking a 50K trail around Epsom Common in just one day. But that’s not all. Over the next seven months I’ll also be working hard to loose 50 pounds as I train for the walk. 😨

I’m calling it Steve’s ‘The BIG 50’ – and it means everything to me. This isn’t just a physical challenge, it’s a way to honour my mum and raise funds and awareness for a cause that’s so important to me.

Because whilst God gives me strength in my legs I’ll want to use them and push myself to do crazy challenges to help others.

I’d love for you to be part of this journey. Please take a moment to read my story below (or through the links in this post) and, if you can, support in any way you can.

Your help would make a world of difference.
Thank you so much for taking time to read this.
Beatific blessings, Steve.

The Big 50

Hi, I’m (#BlindSteve), and on Sunday 1st March 2026 I’ll be taking on the biggest challenge of my life!

I’ll be walking 50K in one day, to raise funds for the MS Society.

But this isn’t just about me managing this walk as a blind man…It’s about love, loss and giving hope.

💔 A month that changed everything…

My mum was just 50 years old when she died, after a courageous battle against Multiple Sclerosis. That same month, I was registered blind, it was the hardest month of my life…. I lost my mum and my sight within weeks.

That double blow changed me forever. But it also gave me a deep compassion for others living with daily battles and a strong sense of purpose.

👣  BIG 50 challenge

This year I turned 50 and I want to do something big to honour my mum’s memory, doing something that will challenge me to my limits and help give hope to others living with MS.

So I’ve set myself a monumental challenge…

1. To walk 50K in one day in an ultra-trail marathon

2. To lose 50 lbs in the seven months I’ll be training for this event

3. To do it at 50 (the age my mum was when she died)

Raising funds for MS research

I’ll be walking my 50K on a trail around Epsom Common. I’ll do it all in a single day, pushing through the pain, the fatigue and the challenge of not being able to see the trail I’m walking on.

Because no matter how hard it gets, it’s nothing compared to what my mum, and thousands like her, go through, every day, with MS.

🧡 A Legacy of action…

I’ve already left a gift in my will to the MS Society to help them fund future breakthroughs in treatments, care and support. But I also want to give now! Because MS is devastating families today, and hope is needed now more than ever!

🌟 Walk with me…

This walk is about more than fitness. It’s about remembrance. It’s about transformation. It’s about turning pain into purpose, and love into action.

I’ll be walking blind and on my own. But I won’t walk alone.

I’ll carry my mum’s memory with me every step. And I hope you’ll walk with me in spirit by joining me in this challenge, whether it’s through a donation, sharing my story or offering words of encouragement, you’ll help amplify the impact of my walk.

Together, we can bring hope to those living with MS today, and help create a better future for them tomorrow.

Thanks for walking along this journey with me.

With love and determination,

Steve (#BlindSteve)

Thankful Thursday: My next challenge idea?! 🤔 🙏

Today’s Pond Photo…

Thought I’d photobomb your usual photo and say Hi! 😀

Hi Fitblitzers.

Wow, that was hard. I want to give thanks to the Lord for showing me that my stamina is rubbish, lol, and I need to build it up if I want to do more than 5K. !

my next challenge idea…🤔

For the last few weeks since I’ve been back on the trail, I’ve been having random thoughts about #BlindSteve’s 7th challenge. I was thinking I’d like to do a music/Guitar challenge of some kind, but the number 50 kept dominating my thoughts. After a few weeks of trying to think of every challenge possible…The number 50 kept coming back!

the big 50…

Yesterday on the trail everything shifted into place, and the number 50 won’t come around again…So here is my idea and please let me know what you think as you know I’m like a moth to a flame on focusing on fundraising challenges close to my heart! I wrote a draft yesterday for my JustGiving fundraising page (not set up yet) and wondered what you think?

The Big 50!

Hi, I’m Steve (#BlindSteve), and on Sunday 1st March 2026 I’ll be taking on the biggest challenge of my life!

I’ll be walking my 50K on a trail around Epsom Common,.

Today’s pond photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

It was really quiet out on the trail today, so I’m happy to report there were no dramas. I still can’t believe how good my new HOKA Speedgoat trail shoes are…I know I’m meant to rotate each day with my older shoes, but I love these too much! 😀

When taking these photos around the trail, I don’t see just how beautiful it is! I know I keep saying this but I’m always surprised when I return home and view them on my iMac ready for posting. The photos are still really blurry to me even on massive zoom, but I get the general idea that I’m so blessed to be able to go out there! 🙏 😀

audio beacon #16…

This audio beacon is called ‘White fallen tree, keep left and curves left’…It’s a bit of a mouthful but vital for my navigation. A few years ago when I first placed this audio beacon whilst creating this lap, Sarah said there was a large white fallen tree on the left hand side…I think it’s gone now though? Maybe you guys could come up with a better name and I can rename it?? 🤔

I hope you’ve had your own chance to get out, get moving, and soak in the world around you, whatever that looks or sounds like for you today. 🤔

Stupendous Speedgoat Saturday! 💪🏼

The Hoka speedgoat 6 Trail Shoes…😲

Hi Fitblitzers…

Hi FitBlitz Friends! . Now these bad boys will really put the ‘Motivation’ in to Mondays walk, lol! 🤣 This morning me and my lovely wife Sarah visited Fitstuff (running specialists) in Guildford, Surrey, UK, to buy some more trail shoes now I’m back FitBlitzing again, and to help me with my determination to lose the 50 pounds I need to! Yes that’s 50 pounds now I’m 50 years old! 💪🏼

I tried around 6 pairs of shoes, all different makes and styles…And these ones fit perfect with just the right amount of cushioning, grip and weight. I can’t have too much cushioning as I need to feel the trail, as I’m blind I use my feet lots to help guide me around along with my Soundscape app. 😀

Sarah’s stupendous Oat & Almond Fruit Protein Pancakes…

A plate of French toast stacked with fresh strawberries, raspberries, banana slices, and blueberries, drizzled with syrup.

I seriously can’t describe how tasty these protein pancakes are…They should be banned, lol! These are Sarah’s custom make (top secret recipe) pancakes. All she told me is that she’s used oat flour, Almond flour and Whey Isolate for extra protein boost! I then add zero fat greek yogurt and after Sarah’s covered them with zingy fruit…I add the special Grove Farm sugar free Maple Syrup (diabetic friendly) which is only 9 calories per 2 table spoons! 😲

I can’t wait to get out on the trail with my new Speedgoats, and also eat more of those stupendous pancakes…Losing weight has never tasted so good! 💪🏼 😀

Today’s Pond Photo…

A serene view of a pond surrounded by lush greenery and trees under a clear blue sky, with a person sitting by the water's edge.

Hi Fitblitzers.

The first thing I want to give thanks for is my lovely Wife Sarah. Before I head out to the trail, she always gives me cuddles, kisses and coffee (a lovely fresh black espresso)…And just when I think she couldn’t get any more amazing, she makes me an iced coffee when I return, as it’s the start of a 5 day heatwave! 😲

A scenic forest path lined with lush greenery and trees under a clear blue sky.

As I was zombie shuffling along the back of the lap after the ponds, I was giving thanks as there were not many people out today which makes my walks much much better…It’s sounds very anti-social butto me they are not people, cyclists, runners or dog walkers…They are seriously dangerous obstacles! 🤣

A peaceful walking trail surrounded by lush green trees and shrubs, with a signpost on the left indicating directions.

Also when me and Sarah walked around my lap to see if it was safe for me to start Fitblitzing again…A small part of my lap was closed. But I tentativley shuffled along expecting to hit something, and to my surprise it was all open again, yay! Once I was clear and the audio beacon had called out this location I turned around and took the photo above…I’m very happy it’s back open and I can do my proper lap again! Plenty of thanks here to the rangers and local volunteers who keep this place beautiful! 😀

Audio Beacon ‘The sunshine bench’…

A tree-lined path winding through a lush green forest under a bright blue sky.

I always smile when I hear ‘The Sunshine Bench’ audio beacon, as it’s Sarah’s favourite bench as it always seems to be in the sun. And it always takes me back to my ‘Ultra Trail Marathon‘ walk I did for the MS Society, as Sarah was sitting on here waiting to jump up and take photos of me. I still can’t believe I did that!

How might you pause to give thanks today, whether it’s through a prayer, a walk in nature, or a quiet moment of reflection? 🤔

Today’s pond photo…

A tranquil pond surrounded by lush greenery and trees under a clear blue sky.

Hi Fitblitzers.

After being away for 5 days celebrating me and Sarah’s 18th wedding anniversary (see my 1st.post HERE), it was nice to get back on the trail. In my excitement I’ve not only taken the usual pond photo…But I thought I’d bless you with another shot from down the side of the pond, lol! 😀

A serene view of a pond surrounded by lush greenery, including two large trees framing the scene, with calm water reflecting the surrounding landscape.

I have no dramas to report today as it was a pretty straight forward walk, which is good for me as I made it back home without injury…But boring for you! 🤣 I like to take 3 photos for you to enjoy and I realised as I was finishing my lap, so I turned around and got one final photo for you. Then it was try and make it back home in one piece, and drink one of Sarah’s famous black espresso coffees. 😋

A sunlit dirt path winding through a lush, green forest with tall trees and vibrant foliage.

As you may know i don’t see the trail through the woods, but I hear the birdsong that surrounds me like a choir, my footsteps pound the earth like a bass drum and the breeze gently cools me down as the sunshine warms my skin. It feels great to do my daily walk, and keep moving closer to smashing my health and fitness goals! 💪🏼

I hope you’ve had your own chance to get out, get moving, and soak in the world around you, whatever that looks or sounds like for you today. 🤔

Today’s Pond Photo…

A scenic view of a dirt path bordered by lush green bushes and trees under a clear blue sky.

Hi Fitblitzers.

Yay I made it back without injury…Now that’s the first thing to be thankful for! 💪🏼 I also walked past the smaller pond as usual, and when I stopped to take the photo…I thought I’d step off the trail and get the path in the bottom of the shot to make it look a little different this time. 😀

Audio Beacon ‘The Carousel’…

A scenic walking trail surrounded by lush greenery and trees, with a clear pathway inviting for a hike.

I need to give a monumental thanks to the makers of the ‘Soundscape’ audio navigation iPhone app, as without it I wouldn’t be able to walk around the trail. And speaking of the app…I stopped when I heard my ‘Carousel’ audio beacon called out. It was like meeting an old friend as I walked around the banked left hander. I called it ‘Carousel’ as I think it’s similar to the namesake along the Nürburgring race track in Germany! 🤣

A serene forest path surrounded by tall trees and green foliage, inviting for a leisurely stroll.

Looking through the photos i post on here on my mac with full zoom, i forget just how beautiful the trail is. It’s so easy to forget as i’m stomping through with tired legs, aching bones, thirsty throat and a starving belly, lol. 😋 I’m so thankful that i stop and take a few photos as i can enjoy them ( with you I hope?!) when i get home.

I also want to say i’m so thankful that even though i’m blind, i can go out walking through God’s beautiful creation, listen to my audio navigation Soundscape app and create beacons that are named in loving memories of family, friends and random things. Also capturing some photos for you to enjoy around the world…I don’t think i’ll ever get my head around having you guys out there to love, encourage and support me in ways i didn’t even know were possible…Thanks for being a blessing! 🙏 😀

Today’s Pond Photo…

Trail pond photo from the side path

Hi Fitblitzers.

As i completed my longer walk yesterday, my plan was to do a 6 mile (2 lap) walk nice and slow to give my legs time to relax and i could sit back and enjoy this beautiful place…This didn’t happen, lol! 🤣

My Inov-8 trailfly ultra G300 max trail shoes…

I have 2 pairs of trail shoes and i do a shoe rotation each day so the foam padding has time to spring back, and this means i get no blisters, bad feet, shins or leg damage. . Unfortunately it’s the day i wear my fave Inov-8’s and as soon as i left the road and joined the light trail paths…My shoes seemed to hit a super sport mode and hunkered down and sped off! Thankfully it wasn’t a sunny day today so as my legs steamed on ahead, i held on for dear life and resigned myself to a speedy 1 lap instead. 😨

Wayfaring Wednesday: 8.57 mile walk 👨🏻‍🦯💪🏼

Today’s pond photo…

Hi Fitblitzers.

Oh how quickly we forget…I can’t believe I’ve ever walked for over 8 miles before, lol! I’m so glad i’m typing this as it means i’m alive and i’ve made the walk.

I managed 3 laps (8.57 miles) and my legs are feeling it, but i need to keep going as my next charity fundraising challenge for Diabetes UK (starts 1st July 2024) is 10 miles for 85 consecutive days! 😨 Today’s walk at least had some good parts as it’s a longer walk, so i need to take out my fave chocolate flapjacks to fuel me towards the end…Bonus! 💪🏼

Helter-Skelter audio beacon…

As i had 2 and a half hours to walk today i thought i’d take a few more photos for you to look at, because at least you need to see how beautiful it is around here, lol. 🤣 I also took the photo above of my ‘Helter-Skelter audio beacon’ which i named after the section of track on the Laguna Seca circuit. It’s not quite as dangerous but for this blindman that has to navigate the s bend without flying into the trees and bushes is always a laugh! 💪🏼

As i can label the audio beacons and place them anywhere i like, i’ve actually labelled a couple after people i’ve lost or know…Then as it calls out the name i take a minute to think of that person and the memories they bring up, it’s such a unusual yet lovely daily reminder! 🙏 😀

Thankful Thursday: 5.02 mile walk 👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s Pond Photo…

Zoom at 2x on my iPhone of the trail pond

Hi Fitblitzers.

Wow, when i stopped my walking workout after today’s figure of 8 lap (same one i walked yesterday for 5.02 miles) i was shocked to hear it was exactly 5.02 miles…Now that’s like i’m walking on rails, lol. I didn’t know i was that exact when i created the figure of 8 trail. 😲

The start line audio beacon…

My ‘Start Line’ audio beacon

I said yesterday that i’d take a photo of the famous start line audio beacon that has started a few of my charity walking fundraisers! 💪🏼 This where it all happens (well once i’ve walked there from my front door, lol), and this is where i metaphorically turn my cap around (Over the top movie) and get focused on the challenge ahead!

The Sarah Sunshine bench audio beacon…

This is my Sarah’s Sunshine Bench audio beacon.

I also said yesterday that i labelled some of my audio beacons with the names of people, and obviously i’ve taken one of my faves (not biased at all) of the ‘Sarah’s Sunshine Bench’. Sarah said “I want the sunshine bench to be named after me’, and as it’s perminately in the sunshine i always smile when my Soundscape app calls it out every day on my walk…Now that’s a living legacy, lol! ☀️

I just want to say i’m so thankful that even though i’m blind, i can go out walking through God’s beautiful creation, listen to my audio navigation Soundscape app and create beacons, have loving memories of family and friends and capture some photos for you to enjoy around the world…I don’t think i’ll ever get my head around having you guys out there to love, encourage and support me in ways i didn’t even know were possible…Thanks for being a blessing! 🙏 😀

Wayfaring Wednesday: Pea Soup [5.02 mile walk] 👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s pond photo…

My audio beacon says “Stop and take photo of the pond”

Hi Fitblitzers.

Yay i’ve made it out on the trail! I managed 5.02 miles (figure of 8 loop) today and all of that fresh air, birds singing and feet pounding was great medicine for this out of tune old guy! 🤣

After posting the images on this post, i really can’t believe the difference of the camera (super detailed) and the way i see the landscape…It really is like trying to look through a bowl of pea soup, and with the sun out it’s even worse than that.

Trail Trees Audio Beacon…

Still wondering what to name the audio beacon that stops me to take this photo? Any ideas?

Whilst walking my way around the trail, i had a great idea! I thought that i could take a photo of each of the audio beacons i’ve set around the trail so you could see how beautiful it is around here. 😀

Rail Crossing audio beacon…

Taken at the ‘Crossroads at rail crossing’ audio beacon – 2nd loop.

I took a few photos today but i think i should start at the beginning, lol. As you may know there are about 40 – 50 audio beacons i’ve set on the trail so far, and i listen to them all of the time with my Soundscape app and my AirPods in my ears. I look like i’m just enjoying music or an audiobook but i’m listening carefully for every direction so i don’t get damaged as much!

As i can label the audio beacons and place them anywhere i like, i’ve actually labelled a couple after people i’ve lost or know…Then as it calls out the name i take a minute to think of that person and the memories they bring up, it’s such a unusual yet lovely daily reminder! 🙏 😀

Now it’s time to see if i survive after this walk, and if so i’ll see you tomorrow. Take care and God bless.

Wayfaring Wednesday: Trail Photos 👨🏻‍🦯

Today’s pond photo…

The small pond taken on today’s walk.

Hi Fitblitzers.

Yeah it’s still 5˚C this morning, so even though the sun was blitzing my eyeballs it was still freezing. But i want my chocolate flapjack this afternoon so i need to go out and walk at least 1 lap, lol!

After all of these years blogging i have finally found a speedy way of adding my photos to a post. I have mainly posted 1 or 2 photos to a post as it takes me too long to compose a post…But now i can add them quicker i can bore you with more photos each day of my trail walks! 🤣 💪🏼

Taken on the trail near the ‘White Fallen Tree’ marker!
Today’s trail walk taken after the ‘Carousel’ audio beacon marker.
The trail path and trees taken near the ‘Keep right on big curve’ audio beacon marker.
The trail path an trees taken from behind me!
The trail path and trees taken near the ‘turn right at bottom of hill climb’ audio beacon marker.

I also stood on the scales this morning (Weigh-in Wednesday) and i’ve lost 9 pounds since i’ve been out walking in the trails again! This now leaves me with 41 pounds to lose over the next 12 months. 💪🏼
