Doeg

1 Samuel 22 The Voice

9 Doeg the Edomite stood among Saul’s servants.

Doeg: I saw the son of Jesse when he came to Nob to speak with the priest, Ahimelech son of Ahitub. 10 Ahimelech asked the Eternal One questions on David’s behalf, gave him provisions, and even gave him the legendary sword of Goliath the Philistine.

Saul (to Doeg): 18 Carry out my orders. Turn around, and kill these priests.

So Doeg the Edomite attacked them. That day he turned and killed 85 men who wore the priestly linen garment. 19 Then he went after Nob, the city of the priests, with his sword and utterly destroyed everything he found there—all the men, women, children, and infants. Doeg even turned his blade against the oxen, donkeys, and sheep. 20 Only Abiathar, son of Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, escaped, and he fled to David for protection. 21 He informed David that Saul had massacred the priests of the Eternal.

Psalm 52 The Voice

Psalm 52 recalls the callous way Doeg and Saul put to death the 85 priests of Nob (1 Samuel 22:6–19). The psalm ends with a memorable image: the one who keeps faith with God is like a lush olive tree cared for in His garden. While those who do not trust in Him are snatched up and torn away, those who do right will flourish under His care.

1 Why do you boast of all the trouble you stir up, O mighty one, when the constant, unfailing love of God is what truly lasts? 2 Have you listened to yourself? Your tongue is like a sharp razor, full of lies that slash and tear right to the soul. 3 You’ve fallen in love with evil and have no interest in what He calls good. You prefer your own lies to speaking what is true.

4 You love words that destroy people, don’t you, lying tongue? 5 You won’t be smiling when the True God brings His justice and destroys you forever. He will come into your home, snatch you away, and pull you from the land of the living.

6 Those who are just will see what happens to you and be afraid. And some of them will laugh and say, 7 “Hey, look! Over there is the one who didn’t take shelter in the True God; Instead, he trusted in his great wealth and got what he wanted by destroying others!”

8 But my life is abundant—like a lush olive tree cared for at the house of the one True God. I put my trust in His kind love forever and ever; it will never fail. 9 Because of all You have done, I will humble myself and thank You forever. With Your faithful people at my side, I will put my hope in our good reputation.

The Nativity

Christmas Logo

Mary is Sarah and Joseph is Dean and Craig is the innkeeper who’s ever so mean. The three kings are the triplets, the shepherd boy’s Daz and the sheep are most of the rest of the class.

‘Cept me I’m important – Miss Watts says I am,
‘cos I am the shepherd boy’s little white lamb.

Sarah’s in blue with a veil on her hair and Craig’s in a dress but his feet are quite bare. All the Shepherds wear towels tied on with long strings and most of us helped to make crowns for the kings.

‘Cept me, I’m important – Miss Watts says I am,
and I am wearing some wool like a little white lamb.

Mary (who’s Sarah) and Joseph (who’s Dean) have knocked on Craig’s door. And he’s trying to look mean, and he says there’s a stable at the back of the house they can share with the donkey and chickens and cows.

But as I’m important – Miss Watts says I am –
I wait with the shepherds “cause I am the Lamb

Then Megan an angel with tinselly wings appears to the shepherds who sit in a ring, And Megan, she says in a very big voice, “Hail to you shepherds, stand up and rejoice. Follow that star that is shinning so bright and find Baby Jesus who’s been born tonight.”

And as I’m important – Miss Watts says I am,
I follow them off, just as meek as a lamb

And there round the manger with Sarah and Dean, There’s more angels and Craig, some cows and three Kings, And Daz leads me forward and kneels on one knee and he says “here’s my present” And I bleat – ‘cos it’s me!

You see I’m important – Miss Watts says I am,
For I am Lord Jesus’ little white lamb.

Lord Jesus we prayed that your people would be one, forgive us Lord and take away the pride and arrogance which divides your church. Break down the walls that separate us; unite us by your spirit ant teach us how to love each other.

Help us to humbly kneel before you and surrender all, Please guide us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds as we seek to find your good and pleasing will, Amen.

My Thoughts 💭

The church I attend on sunday mornings has been without a pastor for well over a year now, so I post this prayer to try and help the body of believers unite and stay faithful to our awesome God.

I’d also love prayers from all of my amazing sisters and brothers here for this church as we seek to find a spirit filled, mature and wise pastor.
