What Love Is?

Love Logo

Some children were asked what love is. The responses were quite interesting and instructive for us adults.

One said “love is when my daddy makes a cup of coffee for my mummy and tastes a bit first before he gives it to her to make sure it’s ok.”

Another said ”love is when your puppy licks you, even when you’ve been out all day.”

one said “ you really shouldn’t say I love you unless you really mean it, but if you do mean it you should say it a lot, ‘cause people forget.”

One boy said “when someone loves you they say your name different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.

And finally one seven year old said “love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you just stop unwrapping your presents and listen.”

No Fear

Quote 4 2day title logo Blog

We are often hindered from giving up our treasures to the Lord out of fear for their safety; this is especially true when those treasures are loved relatives and friends. But we need have no such fears. Our Lord came not to destroy but to save. Everything is safe which we commit to Him, and nothing is really safe which is not so committed.

God Took Me In

Verse 4 2day logo blog

Psalm 27:9-10

The Message (MSG)
You’ve always been right there for me;
don’t turn your back on me now.
Don’t throw me out, don’t abandon me;
you’ve always kept the door open.
My father and mother walked out and left me,
but God took me in.

Psalm 27:10
New International Version (NIV)
Though my father and mother forsake me,
the Lord will receive me.

Love

Quote 4 2day title logo Blog

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.” ~ C.S Lewis

Safety

I ran away from safety because it was tasteless
My life was craving some more exotic flavour
Because of my attractions I drove a million miles to meet my desire
But when I got there it destroyed me, it tore me to pieces

Now I am broken, shattered. The things I loved hated me
Who can understand, who can make sense of this mess
How could the world be such a liar
How could I have been so stupid

I opened my eyes and looked around me, I found I was not alone
There were so many people littering the streets of this broken place
Then some quiet noise turned my head and I scanned the horizon
I saw a kind of light far in the distance, it seemed vaguely familiar but unknown

Now I have walked these streets, how I longed for the old way, whatever it was
Still I could sense that light, it seemed to be moving
If only I could go back, If someone could take me
I then I thought about that light, could that light be safety?
