Today’s Pond Photo…

Hi Friends.
Today’s been one of those days when i’ve found myself thinking just how much I have to be thankful for. I headed out onto the trail and walked two laps, covering 6.06 miles, and there were no dramas whatsoever. Nearly two hours of walking, listening, thinking and thanking God. And that plate-sized hole in the trail that I encountered yesterday? Either it wasn’t there today, or somehow I managed to miss it both times I walked past it! I’m quite happy with either explanation! Most importantly, though, my knee coped brilliantly. After everything that has happened with it over the past five months, being able to walk 6.06 miles without any problems is something I certainly don’t take for granted. Thank You, Lord, for my knee, for my recovery and for every single step.

I’m also incredibly thankful for God’s creation and for the beautiful trail I get to walk around. Being registered blind means I experience it differently from many people. I can’t see the pond, the trees, the sunshine or the animals, but I can hear so much of what is happening around me. The birds singing, the wind moving through the trees, the sounds of the water, wildlife nearby and the changing sounds beneath my feet all remind me that God’s creation is still very much there. Sometimes we think seeing is the only way to appreciate beauty, but I’ve discovered that there are many ways to experience it. Today, with nearly two hours to walk, I had plenty of time to listen, think and thank God for the wonderful world He has created.

I’m thankful for Sarah too, my lovely wife and one of God’s greatest gifts to me. I’m thankful for her love, her friendship, her fun, her laughter and, of course, all those constant cuddles! I’m thankful that I have someone to share life with, someone who makes me laugh, loves me through the good days and difficult ones, and makes ordinary moments so much better. I’m also thankful for music. I’m thankful that God has given me the opportunity to listen to it, play it, write it and create it. Whether I’m sitting with a guitar, writing lyrics or experimenting with a new song, I love being creative, and my hope is that whatever I create can ultimately be used for His glory.

I’m also incredibly thankful for all of you who read my blogs. Every comment, every kind word, every bit of encouragement and every little message means far more than you might realise. There is such warmth in the comments people leave, and over time many of you have become much more than simply people who happen to read something I’ve written. You’ve become friends. That’s one of the things I love about being part of this wonderful WordPress family. We might live in different places and have completely different lives, but somehow this little corner of the internet brings people together. So today I’m thanking God for every person who takes the time to read, comment, encourage, laugh, share and walk alongside me through these blogs. Your friendship is a blessing.

So, after nearly two hours and 6.06 miles, I’ve come home with something far more valuable than a number on my walking app. I’ve come home reminded of just how much there is to be thankful for. Thank You, Lord, for my knee, for my health and strength, for the trail, the pond, the trees, the sunshine, the animals and every sound I can hear around me. Thank You for Sarah, for music, for creativity, for the ability to walk again and for every person who has become part of this WordPress family. Sometimes we spend so much time asking God for things that we forget to stop and simply say, “Thank You”.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Give thanks…🙏

So, what might you pause and thank God for today? Maybe it’s a simple prayer, a favourite Bible verse, a worship song that lifts your heart, a peaceful walk where you can take in the beauty of His creation, or perhaps catching up with a favourite blog from your WordPress family and enjoying the friendship and encouragement found there. Or maybe you don’t need to do anything at all. Just stop for a moment, be still and remember that you are in God’s presence. However you choose to spend that moment, I hope it gives you the chance to slow down, count your blessings and remember just how good and faithful God is. Beatific blessings, Steve.

I was happy to read that you avoided obstacles on this 6.06 walk. The photos are lovely. I love to hear birdsong on walks like these. Thanks for the encouragement to be thankful in all circumstances. Today I’m thankful that our women’s Bible study at church is starting up and that we are studying the book of Hebrews. The study is called Better. I’m thankful for my dear husband who is so patient with me. He turned 73 yesterday. Looking forward to a busy weekend away from home as our granddaughter will be dancing at the Irish Feis competition in Spokane, Washington. Our oldest son and our dear DIL will fly over to be at the competition, too. Praying for open eyes and an open heart to learn more about Him from the Word He has given us. So thankful for the Bible. Hope you and Sarah have a great afternoon and evening!
