“Diabetes is relentless and simply never stops…But neither do I!” – Blind Steve šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

Hi iChristian Family!!

The blindman is off the sidelines again…And while God gives me the strength in my legs…i’ll use them for doing crazy fundraising challenges to help others! I really didn’t want to fill this blog with annoying fundraising asks, as my last fundraiser ‘Trail Marathon‘ was only in April 2022…But you know me…And when i stumbled across this ‘One Million Step Challenge’ and found it was for Diabetes UK i just had to do something!

For the last 18 years since meeting my ‘T1D Warrior Wife Sarah’, i’ve always wanted to be a ‘Sarah’s Walking Warrior’ and raise money for Diabetes…So here is the 4th ‘Blind Steve’ fundraising challenge…šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

Below is the story taken from my fundraising page…

Support Blind Steve in the Diabetes UK – One Million Step Challenge

Diabetes is relentless and simply never stops…But neither do I!

For the last 18 years i’ve seen first hand how my lovely wife Sarah battles, struggles and copes with her ā€˜brittle Type 1’ diabetes. She’s such a warrior and is truly my inspiration on perseverance, determination and drive to keep fighting.

So last week, when I heard of the ā€˜One Million Step Challenge’  i had to sign up straight away. I’ve always wanted to fundraise for Diabetes UK and show Sarah how much it means to me too, and this is my chance!

I realise this challenge has already started (running from 1st July to 30th September 2022). Requiring participants to walk a million steps over those three months. My cunning plan is to start the challenge on Monday 1st August and try and walk the one million steps in two months instead! This works out at over 16,000 steps each day, for the 61 days, without a rest

Type 1 diabetes never gives Sarah a rest, so I don’t want to have one either during my fundraising challenge…The nature reserve trail is going to get a pounding again, lol! šŸ¤£

Quick Factoid…

Did you know someone is diagnosed with diabetes every two minutes? As many as 4.8 million people are living with diabetes in the UK right now.

So if you’re feeling inspired…Please hit the donate button and support my stepping challenge. Every step and every donation counts. Join me and let’s help everybody living with diabetes. For all the mums, dads, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, grandparents, and best friends, creating a world where diabetes can do no harm.

Let’s get this party started!! šŸŽ‰ As 1 Million steps is around 500 miles, i’ve already donated 5p per mile (Ā£25.00)…It’s going to be a really tough challenge and it’s the furthest i”ve ever walked…But i’ve got to do the steps now!!

Every penny given will go towards Diabetes UK care and support services, advice and guidance, and pioneering research. Together, we’re changing the world for people with diabetes.

Thank you so much, Steve! ā¤ļø

#3 What’s Happening To Me? – “Size XXL to a Medium” šŸ˜²

Me Engand Shirt

Hi all!

Yay…My early 14th wedding anniversary (post coming on Wednesday) present from my lovely wife Sarah!! I’ve been wearing it for every game so far and it seems to be working lol! 🤣

Ā

Size XXL to a Medium…Ā

Ā

Since losing 5 stone over this last year, i’ve also gone from a size XXL t-shirt to a size medium. I have never been a medium throughout my whole adult life. I’m loving having to get a new wardrobe andĀ ordering aĀ medium size and it fitting like a glove…Not much beats this feeling!Ā šŸ˜€

Yay…1 Year…-5 Stone & Size XXL To Medium! šŸ™Œ šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ šŸ˜€

Me Winners Trophy

Hi Friends!!

Can youĀ believe it’s been a year today, since i started my epic adventure akaĀ ā€œJune time to prune?!ā€ I wanted to put this post on my blogs as a milestone for me and to share my good news with you all!Ā šŸ˜€Ā

My mind is stillĀ having trouble adapting to the body it’s now living in, lol.Ā

-5 Sone…

I’ve gone from overheating all of the time, wearing shortsĀ through the winter and staying out of the sun as it felt like pins and razor blades cutting my skin…To feeling cold most of the time, wearing normalĀ clothes in the winter and like yesterday…Spent time sitting with my lovely wife Sarah enjoying the sun without the stabbing pains in my skin.

Size XXL to a Medium…Ā

I’ve also gone from a size XXL t-shirt to a size medium. I have never been a medium throughout my whole adult life. I’m loving having to get a new wardrobe andĀ ordering aĀ medium size and it fitting like a glove…Not much beats this feeling!Ā šŸ˜€Ā

My Engine & Body Analogy…

As i used to be a panel beater in a bodyshop, the engine analogy just seemed to click for me when thinking about my nutrition etc. As i needed to be in a healthy calorie deficit to lose weight, i needed to find out what kind of engine i had and how much fuel (calories) it burns.

Hang On…

I’ve just realised i’m going to go on for ages writing about my year ofĀ transformation. So before i bore you all to death, i thought i could write about it post by post for a while. This way i can slowly bore you to death and you may notĀ notice, lol! 🤣

😲Yay…-70lb Weight Loss Badge! šŸ™Œ

70 pound weight loss badge

Wow…I simply can’t believe i’ve achieved this goal, after stepping off the scales this morning. To say i’m excited is an understatement!! 😲 Ā Ā

It’s taken me about 2 months to reach this next -5 pound badge as i’m almost at maintenance calories now. I absolutely love the food i eat now and wouldn’t change it back for anything. I don’t feel hungry (never thought it was possible) and most of all…I can live on this meal plan for the rest of my life!! šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ šŸ˜€Ā

It’s not too late, to sign up for Activ8…!!!Ā Ā šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ šŸ˜€

Hi friendsā€¦šŸ’ŖšŸ¼Ā šŸ˜€Ā Ā

Are you making yourself attractive to Cancer?Ā šŸ¤” Ā

Sarah and I have just signed up for the “Activ8 Planā€ with World Cancer Research Fund as part of Cancer Prevention Awareness Week. So for once I’m not fundraising and bombarding you with donation asks, just sharing information to raise awareness of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle lol! 🤣

You may not be aware (like me) of all the lifestyle choices we make that can affect our cancer risk. 😲

Info taken from the World Cancer Research FundĀ website…Ā

What is Cancer Prevention Awareness Week?

Ā Cancer Prevention Awareness Week is an annual event where we draw awareness to cancer and cancer prevention. Currently, 40% of people diagnosed are diagnosed with a cancer that could have been prevented.

Knowing what you need to do and making small, consistent changes to the lives of you and your loved ones can help you avoid preventable cancers. …..

Activ8: Eat Well, Move More…
We’ve also launched a healthy living programme to support people who want to eat better and move more.

ByĀ signing up, you’ll get 8 weeks’ worth of motivational emails, which will include links to specific nutrition and physical activity resources such as tip-sheets and videos, as well as live support from our experts.

Make preventing cancer part of your everyday life. By following our Cancer Prevention Recommendations you’re giving yourself the best chance of reducing the risk of at least 12 types of cancer. Take action today!

Ā I can’t thank you guys enough for all of the support you’ve given Sarah & me over the years!! I encourage you to join us onĀ this challengeĀ so that you too can protect yourselves against cancer and lead happier, healthier lives…. Ā Thank you and God Bless.Ā šŸ’ŖšŸ¼Ā šŸ˜€Ā
