I was checking my notifications this morning and I was stunned to have found this badge. When I started this blog I had no idea of what the Lord had in store for me, only that he wanted me to share my story on here. I have no writing experience (as you may have guessed by now) and I’m a listener, not a talker so words don’t come easy for me.

Reading all of your comments of love and encouragement, and being able to learn so much through your personal testimonies, truly wise teachings, amazing photography and building friends through fellowship I feel deeply touched!

What I am trying to say is… THANK YOU ALL!

I hope I can continue to be a small blessing or inspiration to you! God bless you all!

📖 Verse 4 2day!

For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

🙏 Prayer 4 2day!

My Lord and my God, Your Word says I no longer live, but You live in me. I surrender to You now, and ask that in the big things and the little things my life would be a reflection of the radical Truth about who I am in You. I don’t want to make this up. I can’t do it in my own strength. I rest in You now and simply ask that You would live through me as You see fit. Praise to You! Amen.

Pride

Ben's avatarThe Dynamic Force

Pride, a deceiving ride,
Going to my friends, I lost my way,
But I couldn’t ask for directions,
So I roamed about all day.

When I finally arrived,
I was tired, I argued and shouted,
But I couldn’t say sorry,
I just stood there and pouted.

So then I went home,
I was well in the wrong,
But I didn’t admit it,
I just carried on.

Months went by,
I didn’t call my friend,
I was sad, but I thought of other things,
You can always pretend.

This happened to me a lot,
I didn’t know pride then,
But it knew me,
It became my only friend.

Now I see it, with my hindsight,
An invisible power,
It separated me from other people,
It turned me sour.

So, here’s my advice to you,
Unseen things can death bring,
They’re crouching at your door,
Don’t let them in.

NaPoWriMo Day 7 prompt is to write a poem in which each line except the last takes the form of a single, declarative sentence. Then, the final line should take the form of a question.

Your Choice

In an incredible place we exist.
In evil we persist.
In our right to life we insist.
Our crime against life is the longest list.

Now, in evil the world is gripped.
From the good life we have slipped.
Our morals have been shipped.
We need to be re-equipped.

We must seek to improve behaviour.
The outlook couldn’t be graver.
In life we must be braver.
We clearly need a saviour.

Many people doubt it.
And, many people shout it.
Various people tout it.
Too many do nothing about it.

We must stop to brawl.
The people must stand tall.
Jesus wants us all.
Will you answer the call?

Goodbye World

Goodbye world, at last
Your days, although many, are numbered
You will be left in the past
A new future is coming, unencumbered

Don’t get me wrong world
I know you are me and my kind
I just want you unfurled
In a new way, I want a new mind

I have been promised
That everything will change
That the serpent that hissed
Will soon be far out of range

While I am here still
Living with you, as you
I will keep changing until
These times are through

So I wont say anymore about how
You will be taken from me
I will just say goodbye now
For I don’t when that time will be

Six Signs You Need to Stop Talking

I love this! Amazing post!

simplyjuliana's avatarsimplyjuliana.wordpress.com

six signs you need to stop talking

Have you ever wished you’d stopped talking about five minutes before you  actually did?

Because I’ve been there myself, I want to help protect you from saying potentially  embarrassing or hurtful things. And I’ve prepared a list of six warning signs to  let you know when it’s time to stop  talking.

Sign 1: You’re Complaining,  Not Explaining

There’s a subtle difference. Explaining is simply telling someone about  your situation. Complaining is when you have an attitude that says “I’m being  inconvenienced.” (See Philippians 2:14-15.)

There will be times when keeping quiet in order to avoid complaining  seems so hard you almost can’t stand it. But God will always give you the grace  to do it. And if we ever want to arrive at our Promised Land, we need to stop  complaining about the way God’s getting us there.

Sign 2: You’re Criticizing  Somebody

Picture this. Someone says…

Draftin’

 My Thoughts 💭

is your heart causing a draft over people?
Are you the ice cold draft that puts a chill into people even before you meet? If someone were to say your name does it make them sigh and say “Oh no I haven’t got the energy.” Or does your name bring a smile to their face as they can’t wait to meet up again.

Or are you a draft project?
Not quite finished or ready to be published yet, a broken toy forgotten on a shelf complaining because you feel your days are over. Are you sat waiting to bury your dead? waiting for your inheritance which you think will heal you. Then, and only then you decide to let Jesus walk alongside you but NEVER in front.

Or do you create a backdraft?
Are you opening doors you know you shouldn’t be opening? Are you letting the flames consume you and pollute your mind?

Or are you draftin’?
Are you letting Jesus lead? Are you following really close behind as he pulls you along, while leaving you with the energy to help others and become your own draft?

When our foundations are shaking

💬 Quote 4 2day

We turn to God for help when our foundations are shaking only to learn that it is God shaking them. – Charles West

Renew my mind

📖 Verse 4 2day!

Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I also like this translation…

Romans 12:2 (MSG)12

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

🙏 Prayer 4 2day!

“Father, I don’t want to be conformed to the Taoist thinking of the world. Renew my mind, help me to stop polluting it with the things the world would like me to see and hear. Transform me according to what is true about my true identity and my new self. Amen.”

Safety

I ran away from safety because it was tasteless
My life was craving some more exotic flavour
Because of my attractions I drove a million miles to meet my desire
But when I got there it destroyed me, it tore me to pieces

Now I am broken, shattered. The things I loved hated me
Who can understand, who can make sense of this mess
How could the world be such a liar
How could I have been so stupid

I opened my eyes and looked around me, I found I was not alone
There were so many people littering the streets of this broken place
Then some quiet noise turned my head and I scanned the horizon
I saw a kind of light far in the distance, it seemed vaguely familiar but unknown

Now I have walked these streets, how I longed for the old way, whatever it was
Still I could sense that light, it seemed to be moving
If only I could go back, If someone could take me
I then I thought about that light, could that light be safety?

Perfection

What is perfection?
This thing that we mention
This mode that we talk of
This ancient convention

It sits in our minds and assesses our actions
It looks at what’s out there and causes reactions
We want it, we crave it
Yet our senses are marred, can we trust our perceptions?

What is it……..?
Something exquisite
Or something of myth
That we never will visit

Or Maybe a path you can follow – a worthy direction
Or choices you make through some careful selection
Or is it chance
The hope of some future election

Or are they all aspects of this purest condition
This mindset beyond a pure human rendition
But something above us
The state that explains the creator’s decision

Something outside us but in us in seed
Something in flowers as well as in weeds
Something in process
The nature of the only one worthy to bleed

The Critical Thing

💬 Quote 4 2day

When it comes to life, the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude. – Gilbert Keith Chesterton

Love Story

Is love the story that underlines our life?
A story of husband and wife
But also of surgeon and knife

A story of cursed ground
Of people lost and found
Of little silence and too much sound

A story of shared and broken creation
Of relation against relation
And nation v nation

A story of confusion
Of many lies and evils intrusion
A story of pain – what’s your conclusion?

Does this story have a turn?
A Saviour who came to burn?
A Saviour who lives, dies, lives – and returns…?

So what about you?
Is this a story that’s true?
A story about your eternal life – your view….?

The Dynamic Force

What is Church?

People have various views on what the Church is but how many people have really grasped the full, world breaking extent of this divine institution?

Our idea of Church is so ingrained in us through years of mis-experience that the truth of Gods plan is buried beneath countless piles of confused Christians. To most people ‘Church’ says Sundays, Services, Buildings, Songs, and plenty of other things that tradition keeps alive, and that are not intrinsically bad but by the same token can meaning absolutely nothing.

The reality is that the scope of Gods plan for people has no limits, aside from those outlined by the things that destroy us; We can do whatever we want, as long as it’s good. Yet for years humanity has dedicated itself to doing exactly those things that break us and now we find ourselves in the unenviable position of wanting to escape the damage but having no idea how.

So, where does the Church fit in?

I am sure that, if the Church had always done what it was supposed to do then we would know exactly where it fits in and see that it is actually the perfect answer to that most important, totally non-religious question: ‘just how do we get ourselves out of this mess?’.

However….

The Church has misbehaved for so long that not even the Christians know what it should look like.

So….

It’s time we listened to God. It’s time the Church became a DYNAMIC FORCE that fills every area of life. A force that can change and mould itself to deal with any situation, powered by the Spirit Himself and defined by the humility and unquenchable forgiveness of all it’s members. The Church is everything or it should be and was designed by God so that, through Jesus we could learn the truth about life and choose it – rejecting all evil.

The biggest question……?

What is holding us back, because it’s not God.

And our point……?

This is what we are trying be in this one tiny corner of Gods plan: That DYNAMIC FORCE that WILL change everything. Let’s make it happen.

Be Wise Pilgrims

Quote 4 2day 💬

Let us use worldly things as wise pilgrims do their staves and other necessaries convenient for their journey. So long as they help us forward in our way, let us make use of them, and accordingly esteem them. But if they become troublesome hindrances and cumbersome burdens, let us leave them behind us, or cast them away.
George Downame

🙏 Prayer 4 2day!

Father, your Spirit of truth guides us to the way of Christ. May all who follow him reject what is contrary to the gospel. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Grace is the preface to the eternal resting-place of the human-race
The place where you change pace
Leave the rat-race and rainbow-chase
Enter that God given, God powered space
Take your birthplace and warm your pale-face

Grace is the type-face of God’s MySpace
The product of His marketplace
The sound of His double-base
Playing notes in Heaven’s showplace
Given airspace, everyplace by Him through time-and-space

Grace is the interface between us and God through Jesus Christ’s Embrace
The love-lace that ties us to Him and shows His face
That gives head-space to people from everyplace
The remedy that clears disgrace in every case
It’s the love of God for His people and the name of His workplace

Grace is the very one-horse-race in the divine People-chase
Where God will always outpace and deface
The bare-face lies in sub-space
And retrace the crawlspace of the human-case
And show that the truth…

Just think: Every promise God has ever made finds its fulfillment in Jesus. God doesn’t just give us grace; he gives us Jesus, the Lord of grace. Prayer 4 2day wireless logo

Father in heaven, I know that I have broken your laws and that my sins have separated me from you. I now want to turn away from my past sinful life.

Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again.
I believe that you sent your son Jesus Christ, who died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, and is now alive. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life—to rule and reign in my heart from this dayforward.

Please send me your Holy Spirit to help me to obey you, and
to do your will for the rest of my life.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Depression

Whilst writing “My Testimony” I found this song hiding in my hard drive.

Depression

Written by Steve Rebus

As I wake up I slowly realise,

That I face another day with darkened eyes,

As it hits me I have to refrain,

From the thoughts wishing me dead again!

Pure isolation, I dream of escape,

My hopes and ambitions I’ve had to forsake,

Panic, despair, my hand grips the knife,

I pray for the strength to end this sad life!!

(chorus)

Depression,

Comes like the darkest night,

Depression,

No glimmer of hope, no sign of light.

I feel the torment build deep inside,

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide,

It has to happen now, I need a release,

I hope suicide will finally bring me peace!

(chorus)

As I look back with love in my heart,

My Chains are gone, i have a new start,

The Lord is my refuge, my strength, my home,

The darkness has gone, I’m no longer alone!

📖 Verse of Hope

John 14:1-4

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

Not afraid to die

This song came to me as I was with Sarah at another Eric Bibb concert, we were sat very high up in the eaves of Cadogan Hall and I felt a sudden sense of danger. I pictured the whole place collapsing and I was trapped under all of the seats etc.

When we got home I picked up my acoustic guitar and this song (lyrics & chords) just came straight out. I havn’t edited it since and this happened around 2005.

Not afraid to die

Music & Lyrics by Steve Rebus

Verse 1 G, D/F#, A Asus

On that fateful night

In Cadohan Hall

Eric Bibb’s Blues filling wall to wall.

Verse 2

A big explosion

And you were scared

But I was the one trapped beneath the stairs

(Chorus) Dsus, G, D/F#, G, A

Please save yourself, before it’s too late

Please save yourself, but don’t you cry

Because I got the Lord in my heart…..I’m not afraid to die

Verse 3

You let go of my hand

With tears on your face

The look in your eyes, as you left this place

Verse 4

I can feel the heat

Of the flames on my skin

The creak from the roof as it finally caved in

(Chorus)

Please save yourself, before it’s too late

Please save yourself, but don’t you cry

Because I got the Lord in my heart…..I’m not afraid to die

Solo

Verse 5

Remember me

And the life we had

Share your smile and never be sad

(Chorus)

Please save yourself, before it’s too late

Please save yourself, but don’t you cry

Because I got the Lord in my heart…..I’m not afraid to die

When you’ve got the Lord in your heart…..don’t be afraid to die

© Steve Rebus

I am not sure if this is an outpouring of my love for Sarah and how I would die for her, or if its trying to show how much inner peace I feel now I follow Jesus, maybe its both?!

Friday Street is a hamlet on the lower slopes of Leith Hill in SurreyEngland. It is set well off the main roads around a hammer pond in a wooded valley. It is just to the south of Wotton and the A25 running between Guildford to the west and Dorking to the east….read more…..

Description

Photos taken during a walk around the beautiful epsom common.

Quote from websiteWe are a Church of England (Anglican) parish church in a beautiful area of Epsom, Surrey. We are part of the Guildford Diocese, which covers much of Surrey and part of North-east Hampshire. We also have responsibility for Christ Church on the Wells, our church plant, which meets on a Sunday at the community centre on the Wells estate (the part of Epsom where Epsom Salts once came from!)

We are also part of the Epsom Group Ministry, a confederation of Anglican churches in Epsom, which includes the churches of St Martin with St Stephenon the Downs, and St Barnabas. Along with the Group Ministry, we also have a very good relationship with Epsom Methodist Church, in the centre of Epsom.

Our beautiful Victorian church (do have a look at the slide show or the photo gallery!) has been home for many years to a lively Christian community. We hope that, if you are able to visit us, you will find space here to discover more about God and the Christian faith, time to pray and reflect, and also the opportunity to make new friends.
