morningstoryanddilbert's avatarMorning Story and Dilbert

An atheist was taking a walk through the woods, admiring all that naturalism and evolution had created. β€œWhat majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!”, he said to himself. As he was walking alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes behind.

As he turned to look, he saw a 7-foot grizzly charge towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing in on him. He tried to run even faster, so scared that tears were coming to his eyes. He looked over his shoulder again and the bear was even closer. His heart was pumping frantically as he tried to run even faster, but he tripped and fell on the ground.

He rolled over to pick himself up and saw the bear right on top of him raising his paw to…

I Offer It All

Prayer 4 2day wireless logo

Father, I don’t want to function in my own strength. I lay myself in Your hands to be used as an instrument of righteousness. I give You my mind, that I might think Your thoughts. I give You my heart, that I might love as You love. I give You my hands, that I might serve as You serve. I give You my lips and my tongue, that my words might give grace to all who hear. I offer it all to You, Lord! Do with me what You wish! Amen.

The Future – Part 3

NaPoWriMo Day 18

Ben's avatarThe Dynamic Force

Truth is missing from your words
You argue about the future
And you are both wrong
You talk like he has life outside you, when it is both of you who are in control
But without me; that is why you stumble
You need to listen
The future has room for everyone but he must be instructed through me
You must listen; I will help you
I made you so that you could hear the future
Through my wisdom you can understand
But now you don’t listen
You can’t hear because your ears are full of money
And you can’t see because your foresight is blind
Blinded by the love of your own reflection
Listen to me
I am the Way; I am the shape of all good things
The future does what you say
And I will help you speak the language that brings Life
So walk with me…

Rest In Piece

Β

Β

I have had this written down for many years, but I have only just found it again when searching through some old folders.

Β

A few of the songs/poems I have on here were written as I was coming out of a very dark time in my life, but I still would like to share them with you as they are still part of my journey.

Rest in Piece

by Steve Rebus

Β

Β

Verse 1 C, Am7, Em, G

As they Wade through the blood of your family,

Bullets pass through you for all to see,Β

Tears of blood, life long scars remain,

The evil one, is prowling once again,

Β

Chorus Am, Em

Rest in Piece,

Children of war,

Rest in peace,

You don’t have to fear no more,

Β

Verse 2

Lying face down in the mud,

A war never turns out like they say it would,

Trying to send a prayer with your final breath,

While spitting and choking on the stench of death,

Β

ChorusΒ

Β

Middle 8 F, C, G/B Am

Who’s to say who’s wrong,

Who’s to say who’s right?

How much innocence will die tonight?

Β

Verse 3

Is the war over now, are we done?

Or has all the darkness only begun,

What’s the value of a human life?

I guess that changes from side to side.

The future doesn’t hate
The future loves, he has always loved me
He knows me, knows my heart
He knows my favourite song
Everyday he invents new ways to play it for me
He has always been my friend since before I can remember
Constantly he meets me, bringing new joy
When I wake, I see him again each day
Always smiling, always loving
I look at him with ease

The Versatile Blogger Award

NewImage

Β

A huge thanks to AdelineΒ at Dancing In The Storm for nominating me for this award. What an amazing blog she has showing how God works his will through people. I was worried that my blog might come across as messy as my posts can vary a bit. So when I received this award I realised my blog must actually be described as versatile! lol.

Β Just checking I am following all of the rules;

1) Add The Versatile Blogger award photo on a blog post
2) Thank the person who presented you with the award and link back to him or her in your post
3) Share seven things about yourself
4) Pass the award along to 15 bloggers you’ve recently discovered. Contact the chosen bloggers to let them know about the award.

Now for the challenging part: 7 Things about me…

3. I have the best Wife in the world. Sarah is the custard on my apple crumble. (this might only be a compliment in the UK) πŸ˜€

5. I still really miss my Boxer dog ‘Bruce’ even after 16 months! see ‘Bruce THE Boxer

Ben's avatarThe Dynamic Force

Once the future had been my friend
He had promised me many things
But that changed long ago
Now he hates me
Day by day he eats my life and leaves me empty
I did nothing, it was he that moved
Moved from a friend to an enemy
An enemy bent on revenge
If only I knew what I had done
What I had done to make him hate me
Then I could apologise
I would make things new
We could be meeting again every day, with joy
Not like now
Now, I can’t look at him
My face is always to the floor
I am always looking down
I am empty

The Truth has a Name ~ Part 1

Powerful & Challenging post!

1 John 2:21

It is not because you don’t know the truth that I have written to you, but because you do know it, and because no lie has its origin in the truth.

John 14:6 ~ Yeshua (Jesus) speaking…

Yeshua said, β€œI AM the Way – and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:15-18 ~ Yeshua speaking

β€œIf you love Me, you will keep My commands; and I will ask the Father, and He will give you another comforting Counselor like Me, the Spirit of Truth, to be with you forever. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees nor knows Him. You know Him, because He is staying with you and will be united with you. I will not leave you as orphans – I am coming to you.”

A Radiance Hidden In Your Heart

Β

πŸ’¬ Quote 4 2day!

There is a radiance hidden in your heart that the world desperately needs. –Β John and Stasi Eldredge

πŸ“– Verse 4 2day!Β

Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.Β  Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God- truly righteous and holy. –Β Ephesians 4:21-24

πŸ™ Prayer 4 2day!Β

Jesus, I believe in You, I believe You have made me fully. I’m choosing today to leave the way I used to live. I place my faith in You, and not in the strength of my flesh! I choose Your wisdom and not my own knowledge. As a leap into this new existence, I trust You and You alone to live the Christian life through me. Show me the way! Amen.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE!!!!

Seen as I have author access to Steve’s blog,Β I can sneek in a post that says:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATE

and thanks for being such a great friend!

Rosie and Vini also say: HAPPY BIRTHDAY – You are quality!

So this is for you:

Just let everything abate while I articulate the innate state of your photos; they’re top rate, you can keep the tate with its modern gait; bag of rubbish and unmade bed, wait, are they thinking straight!Β But your pictures show creation in it’s purest state.

I don’t inflate when I rate your guitar skill as great, don’t negate the ornate fate of your fingers, take the home plate and hit home runs but wait, what about the drums, beats that dilate the heart-rate, no debate just rhythms that dictate, on time, not late and loved like carp on ground bait.

But above all that you’re straight, no-hate, equating to a top-rate, heavy weight, double the dose rate, gold plate, never late top of the range mate.

The Reality Blog Award!

Reality Blog AwardWow, I am honoured to announce that I have been nominated for the Reality Blog Award by Pam, please check out her fantastic blog at animalpalooza.Β I am deeply touched to be thought of for having an inspiring blog. This is exciting for me as this is my first award. πŸ˜€

Those who are blessed enough to receive this award, are asked to post the picture of the award on their blog and link back to the person who nominated you.

There are 5 questions that go along with this award so here goes…

  1. If you could change one thing, what would you change? I would like to change peoples mindset on thinking that the church is a building Christians go to on a sunday morning!
  2. If you have just one book with you on a deserted island, what would it be? It would have to be the Bible, but as I am blind I have the audio version on my iPhone, so if its ok I would also like to take a solar powered battery pack so I can continue listening.
  3. What is one thing that really scares you? I would probably have to say spiders and creepy crawlies. As I can’t see them I always imagine them about five times the size, so I panic even more.
  4. What is one dream you have not completed, and do you think you will be able to complete it? To be able to sing so that I can play and record some of the songs I have written. This is a huge task but I hope one day I will be able to hold a tune!
  5. If you could meet any TV or movie star who is still alive, who would it be? It would have to be Alice Cooper. I would love to talk with him about this amazing Christian journey

Happy Birthday Sarah – Part 2

For part of Sarah’s birthday present I booked a 1 night stay in the Thistle Hotel in Brighton. The hotel was lovely and the view from the room had a full panoramic view of the beach and pier.

Sarah sat in the window relaxing with the view of the pier

We had a meal in the restaurant inside the hotel on the first evening which was lovely as the table had a similar panoramic view, and I had the best scotch egg (cooked in a posh way! lol) I have ever tasted!Β

NaPoWriMo Day 14

Ben's avatarThe Dynamic Force

We live in a world of many options
We have minds full of thoughts and many different notions
Dreaming of future vocations, making relations
Living life to the max and retiring with a pension

But what does life consist of; what’s your true perception
How about a nice house and 2 or 3 vacations
Buy a car, play golf, work hard and earn some cash
That’s fine; but tell me, have you ever eaten someone’s trash

In this time, countless people live in degradation
No clothes, no shoes, no food, lacking life vital medication
Let alone a car or house or any education
And all the while the wealthy struck by self-fixation

It’s good to work hard and have some life
You can’t put that down, A man can have a wife
And a family and live, but evil in this world is rife
Just maybe, more of our hearts…

Pain

NaPoWriMo Day 13

Ben's avatarThe Dynamic Force

Can you explain pain
Physical and mental bane
Unwanted guest in man’s domain
Giving eye-strain to the humane and the inhumane

Why engrain us with this ball and chain
Hurt’s ad campaign, unfriendly heavy-weather vane
Is there a reason I walk with a cane
Or does the pain in my world fall in vain

What’s the game; restrain my reign
Retrain the human brain with acid rain
It’s driving me insane; top of the food chain
Yet pain has free-rein on my mental plane

I don’t aim to profane the things beyond my brain
Just want to feel sane; I’m a link in a chain
Where many have it sweet like sugar cane
And many others have to slash their feet on sharp terrain

Pain, is it needed to maintain life in the human-lane
Not an oil stain but a language that contains
Instructions to refrain from doing things that…

Greed

NaPoWriMo Day 12

Ben's avatarThe Dynamic Force

Greed, a false friend that lies at high speed
You concede, mount the steed
Then, the more you get, the more you need
What you have will never exceed the feeling, guaranteed

Once you proceed to cross-breed with that fallen seed
Wisdom’s gone, She’d spoken but you disagreed
You ran full speed, not paying heed
Watch the sweat bead as you smoke the devil’s weed

Greed, made to mislead our breed, impede life, no misread
Men force-feed geese while tiny babies die in need
Who agreed to spoon-feed lies while love recedes
We need to plead with God to be found and freed

We’d better reread the creed and stop this stampede
This greed is deadly, we’ve been played like piano keys
Teed up like Sam Snead, we spend trillions but can’t meet the basic need
Of billions of people, some succeed but many sift through bins to feed

Self-Control

NaPoWriMo Day 11

Ben's avatarThe Dynamic Force

Self-Control; arch enemy of the modern soul
Nemesis of fun, cork in the blow-hole
Call of the loser, so we fit the mould
Set the world to cruise control and let the good times roll

Who slipped in; breached border control
Which fallen beings broke parole
Spiked the punchbowl and burned the sacred scroll
We bent to drink and got ambushed at the water-hole

Now, what’s the goal of your eternal soul
A future role or sticking your finger in the ozone-hole
Take control, there’s no entry to the book of life by deed-poll
Don’t trade the gift of life to dance around some totem pole

So what, you got rich, piled up stacks of gold
But your heart became a black-hole, like charcoal
Burnt to dust and sprinkled on the steps of shoel
Enrol? I wouldn’t touch it with a barge-pole

Self-control is king, the way to roll

The Crossroads

Β

πŸ“– Verse 4 2day – Jeremiah 6:16 (NIV)

This is what the Lord says:Β β€˜Stand at the crossroads and look;Β ask for the ancient paths,Β ask where the good way is, and walk in it,Β and you will find rest for your souls.Β But you said, β€œWe will not walk in it.”

The Message (MSG)

God’s Message yet again:Β β€œGo stand at the crossroads and look around.Β Ask for directions to the old road,Β The tried-and-true road. Then take it.Β Discover the right route for your souls.Β But they said, β€˜Nothing doing.Β We aren’t going that way.’

πŸ“– Another Verse 4 2day – John 14:23-27

Jesus replied, β€œAnyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

β€œAll this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.Β

My Thoughts πŸ’Β

Why do we choose to set our ‘Simple Disobedience’ button to on in our human settings, even when we know God loves obedience from us?

Β Are there any switches that need turning ‘OFF’ in your obedience walk?

Do you have the ‘Holy Spirit’ set to ON?Β

πŸ™ Prayer 4 2day!Β

Holy Spirit, open my eyes today as I stand at the crossroads. Guide me away from where my flesh wants to go. Give me the wisdom to obey and hear your loving words as you gently guide me towards the light, Amen.

~It is OK to Say No~

Valerie Rutledge's avatarPeace of My Heart

no-newThis goes out to all my fellow over-doers out there…you know who you are!Β  The word β€œno” is not in your vocabulary except when applied to yourself.Β  You say β€œyes” to every task someone asks of you.

  • You sit on three different boards and offer to chair all special committees.
  • You are the room parent forΒ each of your children.
  • You head up every fundraiser at work, school and church.

This list could seriously go on forever so I will spare you.

However, when your mind, body or soul screams for rest, you give it a resounding no.Β  I would venture to say, that like myself, your people-pleasing tendencies make you feel riddled with guilt whenever you take time for yourself.

The Lord has dealt with me quite often on this matter and more times than not, His voice sounds eerily similar to my husband’s.

Are You Drifting?

Β

πŸ’¬ Quote 4 2dayΒ

We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; we drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated. –Β D. Humility

NaPoWriMo – Day 9

Ben's avatarThe Dynamic Force

Humility, a silent and unseen virility
Most valuable and rarest commodity
Not boastful or proud
Not carefully displaying ability

Where is it, this core spirituality
Can you trace the chain of causality
From it’s absence
To the fall of humanity

We have descended in our totality
To a place of deep insecurity
Not for lack of power
But lack of emotional quality

We have built a world of fragility
Missing a base of stability
We have built on sand
But rock brings rigidity

So, let’s take hold of invisibility
Develop the peaceful agility
Say we’ve been wrong
This is the work of humility

Once Again

Shelly's avatarDeeply Rooted in Him

We sang β€œOnce Again” by Matt Redman at church on Sunday. It really spoke to me from the very first statement, β€œJesus Christ, I think upon Your sacrifice”. With Holy Week and Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins and my sins still fresh in my mind, it really got me thinking about how many times I have β€œonce again moments”.

Once again, I was tempted and fell into sin and Your forgiveness was there. How often do we do commit the same sins over and over again? How many times do you seek the the Lord and repent only to do it again? How many times have you felt His leading in one direction only to take your own direction?

Once again we seek the Lord in prayer and He not only hears but He answers. His answers may not come in the form we…

πŸ™ Prayer 4 2day!Β

Pride

Ben's avatarThe Dynamic Force

Pride, a deceiving ride,
Going to my friends, I lost my way,
But I couldn’t ask for directions,
So I roamed about all day.

When I finally arrived,
I was tired, I argued and shouted,
But I couldn’t say sorry,
I just stood there and pouted.

So then I went home,
I was well in the wrong,
But I didn’t admit it,
I just carried on.

Months went by,
I didn’t call my friend,
I was sad, but I thought of other things,
You can always pretend.

This happened to me a lot,
I didn’t know pride then,
But it knew me,
It became my only friend.

Now I see it, with my hindsight,
An invisible power,
It separated me from other people,
It turned me sour.

So, here’s my advice to you,
Unseen things can death bring,
