The Real You

Each of us leads a secret thought life, an invisible life known only to us- it is not known to others. This secret life is usually very different from the visible you- the you that is known by others. Yet it is the real you, the you that is known by our God.

A Wedding Sandwich

Well itโ€™s been an emotional (but rewarding) couple of weeks with a wedding sandwiched between 2 funerals. 1st was Sarahโ€™s Grans funeral (seeย ๐ŸŒนBeautiful Rosa๐ŸŒน) then my sisters wedding (see My Sisters Wedding) and today we celebrated Sarahโ€™s Spiritual guide & support Audrey Broderickโ€™s life at a beautiful and moving memorial service. During the service Audrey had requested a poem to be read and i thought iโ€™d share it with youโ€ฆ.

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that sheโ€™ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all sheโ€™s left.

Your heart can be empty because you canโ€™t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that sheโ€™s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
or you can do what sheโ€™d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Me taking a photo with sony

After all of your lovely comments and encouragements (more than i could reply too) i thought i would keep you up to date with a second post.ย

My photography received a warm response and they have asked if i would like to be apart of another exhibition in Estonia 2015 (Yay!!) Also they would like me to do a video interview (maybe next month) trying to explain how i go about taking my photos etc.. This will be really interesting for me too as i really donโ€™t speak much, i much prefer to listen, and i also donโ€™t really know how i manage to get most of my shots! Lol! ๐Ÿ™‚

More Exhibition Dates:

The exhibition ART SENSES 2013, dedicated to blind and visually impaired people, starts in Ancona 4th April 2014, and then Tuscany, region in Italy, on October 26th in Massa Marittima, and it ended in Grosseto on December 3rd, with a conference on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

For the final exhibition in Florence, Italy in December, iโ€™ll be sending them 6 mounted & framed images and weโ€™ll be actually going to visit the exhibition and meet the people etc at the museum. As you can imagine iโ€™m really excited! ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway iโ€™ll keep you up to date with anything else that may be of interest to you regarding my photography. Thanks again for all of your encouragements. Iโ€™m so blessed to have such fantastic group of friends on here! ๐Ÿ™‚

Listen, I Canโ€™t Explain My Actions

Click blue logo for more Bible verses

Romans 7:15-25ย The Voice

15 Listen, I canโ€™t explain my actions. Hereโ€™s why: I am not able to do the things I want; and at the same time, I do the things I despise. 16 If I am doing the things I have already decided not to do, I am agreeing with the law regarding what is good. 17 But now I am no longer the one actingโ€”Iโ€™ve lost controlโ€”sin has taken up residence in me and is wreaking havoc. 18 I know that in me, that is, in my fallen human nature, there is nothing good. I can will myself to do something good, but that does not help me carry it out. 19 I can determine that I am going to do good, but I donโ€™t do it; instead, I end up living out the evil that I decided not to do. 20 If I end up doing the exact thing I pledged not to do, I am no longer doing it because sin has taken up residence in me.

21 Hereโ€™s an important principle Iโ€™ve discovered: regardless of my desire to do the right thing, it is clear that evil is never far away. 22 For deep down I am in happy agreement with Godโ€™s law; 23 but the rest of me does not concur. I see a very different principle at work in my bodily members, and it is at war with my mind; I have become a prisoner in this war to the rule of sin in my body. 24 I am absolutely miserable! Is there anyone who can free me from this body where sin and death reign so supremely? 25 I am thankful to God for the freedom that comes through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One! So on the one hand, I devotedly serve Godโ€™s law with my mind; but on the other hand, with my flesh, I serve the principle of sin.

My Thoughts ๐Ÿ’ญ

Tami (from Lessons by Heart) once again has asked โ€œWhen are you going to share your music?โ€ย

I donโ€™t have any songs that iโ€™ve recorded (studio or home studio? properly, but i recorded our version of “Love Came Down” on my iPhone whilst Charis & i were practising ready for a Sunday service. Iโ€™ll try and get some proper recordings as iโ€™ve had quite a few people ask me when i will be posting my songs! Sorry for the poor quality & playing, the church was freezing! Lol. ๐Ÿ˜€

Blind Photographer – Steve Rebus {Worshipping through his art, his music, and his writings.}

Me playing my Dean Razorback Rust USA

Meet Steve Rebus. You can read on his website how he breaks the ice about who he is: Blind Photographer. ย But we’ve gotten to know Steve as so much more than that – although he is a fabulous photographer! He is a writer, a musician, and most importantly he is a follower of Christ. In every sense, he seeks to be like and love like Jesus. WHAT A POWERFUL testimony he has!

ย ย 7Cubed: Hi Steve. Tell us about your life, your music, and your photography.ย

Steve: Two Souls Entwineโ€ฆ..ย

Me Sarah in Church

Iโ€˜ve been married to Sarah for nearly six years now and Iโ€™m really struggling to put how I feel into words! My heart overflows with love for her. She has encouraged, inspired and loved me and is the sunshine that warms me along my journey. ย

My love of musicโ€ฆ.

Since being registered blind Iโ€™ve learned to play the drums and guitar. This is amazing in itself but being able to play alongside Sarah every Sunday to assist myself and others in worship is just mind blowing. I play in two churches โ€“ drumming in the morning and playing guitar in the evening and I feel so blessed to be able to come before God and thank him with the gifts heโ€™s given me. Gifts that give me great joy too!

Blind Photographer??ย

โ€œYou donโ€™t need sight to see, you need visionโ€œย

โ€œI strongly believe that Disability doesnโ€™t have to mean inability or lack of creative talent!โ€ย

I used to enjoy photography when I was sighted, taking and developing photos in my dadโ€™s darkroom, When I lost most my sight 13 years ago I thought this would put a stop to my hobby, but I have learned that my camera can act as my eyes allowing me to see what my own eyes will not.ย I am proud of the fact that I have been able to produce photographs despite my visual impairmentโ€“ and like to think that although I may have lost my useful sight I have not lost my vision and instinct for a good photograph. (see Blind Photographer).

7Cubed: In what ways has life changed for you and your relationship with God because of your blindness?ย

Steve: When I was fully sighted I never had a relationship with God, nor was ever taught about him. We didnโ€™t go to church and he was never part of my life.ย In my early twenties I was really into body building, football, driving, and night clubbing. I judged people on looks alone; if they didnโ€™t look fit, they were nothing! My fuel was pride and vanity.ย Since I have been blind and the eyes of my heart have been forced open by God’s amazing grace Iโ€™ve found my identity in Him, and as He is continually transforming me into the person He knew I could be. I simply just love people without any preconceptions of what the world thinks is beautiful.

7Cubed: Obviously, God blesses your music, your writing, and your photography! They are all wonderful. At what point in your life did you really understand that Christ wanted to work through your adverse situations?

Me playing my Taylor Macasser Ebony

Steve: I think it was when I wrote my testimony at the beginning of this year when God started to show me what he can do through me. I posted it onto iChristian and my blog seemed to explode with blessings. I realised that my little story can actually help connect, encourage, and inspire people on a few different levels, and I will share His good news for the rest of my life.ย

7Cubed: We’ve seen some cool pictures of you playing your guitar! Do you play any other instruments? When did you first learn how to play your instruments?ย

Steve: Yes, I also play the drums. I first started playing 13 years ago when a teacher at the college I reluctantly attended (as it was only a few months after Iโ€™d lost my sight and I was in a real dark place) asked me, โ€œSteve, is there anything you would like to learn?โ€ I said I would like to play the drums, so she found a local drum shop called โ€œRattle & Drumโ€ that also had teaching rooms upstairs and thatโ€™s where I started my lessons. Dave, my drum teacher, was fantastic and worked around my struggles, and playing the drums to my favourite songs quickly became my therapy and still helps to this day.ย

I didnโ€™t start playing guitar until 2005 when I had met Sarah and had to sell my drum kit to be able to move into her flat. As Iโ€™ve been a Metal fan for most of my life, Iโ€™ve always played the air guitar, but never really tried to play a real one.ย Harry, my fantastic guitar teacher, recorded our lessons with my video camera so I could sit for hours with my guitar in front of my huge TV to try and figure out what finger went where. As I canโ€™t see to read sheet music or guitar tabs, I have to play from memory.ย I now have quite a few beautiful guitars that I love playing, and Iโ€™m truly blessed to be able to play my chords for the Lord on such amazing instruments.ย ย

7Cubed: You take some awesome photographs! What kind of camera do you use? Do you have any specialized equipment that assists you when taking these amazing photos?ย ย

Steve: I have bought 5 cameras over the 8 years of digital photography. I have 2 DSLR cameras. My main camera is a Nikon D2Xs and my second is a SONY Alpha a100. I also use a Canon Powershot SX40 HS which is a bridge camera, and my compact camera is a Samsung WB550. Oh and my iPhone!ย As you can imagine there is not much in the way of assistive technology for blind photographers as it’s not something that many would think of. The only piece of adapted tech is a 2x magnifier that is screwed onto the Nikon’s viewfinder, which doesnโ€™t help me at all, but I canโ€™t get it off! lolย Having said that, my iPhone is the only camera thatโ€™s accessible for me. It speaks to me when it has focused, and when I take a portrait it will tell me where the face is on the screen and if its a big face or a small face so I can get the right distance. This feature is fantastic and also standard on the iPhone, and Iโ€™d love to see this software on other cameras!ย ย

7Cubed: What advice and encouragement would you give to others who have been through a similar situation?ย
Steve Koa 1

Steve: If there is someone reading this who is experiencing the creeping death called depression, then Iโ€™d just like to give them hope. The hope that although you may feel that no one cares and that thereโ€™s nothing to live for anymore, thereโ€™s no pit too deep that God wonโ€™t reach down and lift you out of. He wants a living relationship with you starting right now!ย He loves you no matter what youโ€™ve done, no matter where youโ€™ve been; He loves you completely and he wants to bless your life and bring you that peace inside that you’re craving for.ย

ย 7Cubed: How did you became a Believer and Follower of Jesus?ย

Steve: I hope you donโ€™t mind but Iโ€™ve answered this question using the text from my iChristian blog.ย

Broken, Psalm 116:3 The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow.ย

Another day, another attempt! โ€ฆ. Oct โ€“ Nov 2000

ย I kneel down in the centre of my living room. Tears stain the blade I hold to my chest. โ€œCome on Steve, donโ€™t fail again! All you need to do is throw yourself forwards and thats it!โ€ย Iโ€™d been doing this every morning for the last couple of months and still I waited, willing myself to do it. Then nudgeโ€ฆnudge.. my three month old Boxer dog โ€œBruceโ€ pushed against my leg with his nose. His whimpering cries pierced my very soul. โ€œHe relied on me for everything and I had no idea I would be relying on a furry angel to help me through this dark period in my life.โ€ย

After three months of failed attempts I felt more useless than ever โ€ฆ. I couldnโ€™t even manage the task of killing myself. I realised I didnโ€™t even have the strength to do this properly. I just didnโ€™t know how I could get lower than this!!! – Iโ€™d been registered blind at 25, after loosing my sight quite suddenly. in the same month my mum finally died after a 12 year debilitating and demoralizing struggle with progressive MS. Missing her added misery to my own struggle to come to terms with the isolation and insecurities of managing life with sight loss โ€“ Iโ€™d lost my job, my custom car, the ability to drive, my girlfriend and nearly all of my so called friends!ย

My answerโ€ฆ.ย

To throw myself into binge drinking, womanising, dark depression, and raw anger. I felt that this was what I had to look forwards to for the rest of my life.ย

Then I met Sarahโ€ฆโ€ฆ July 2004ย

She wasnโ€™t like the other girls Iโ€™d met. Sarah too had suffered sight loss and depression because of her uncontrollable diabetes but no matter how bad things got for her, she always had comfort in someone called โ€œJesusโ€. Oh no I thought not a Christian! She suffered all of my taunts, jibes and nasty comments but worst of all my coldness and my inability to show love. I made it a personal challenge to show her that everyone will let you down and no one can be trusted or faithful! I felt that if I could make her hurt as much as I did then sheโ€™d hate this Jesus and know that he wasnโ€™t real!ย

Then HE came to visit MEโ€ฆ.ย

Hope, Psalm 116:4 Then I called on the name of the Lord: โ€œLord, save me!โ€ย

Iโ€™d seen a guitarist called Eric Bibb on the music show โ€˜Later with Jooles Hollandโ€™ and called Sarah up to see if she had heard of him too. She hadnโ€™t but as a lovely gift she booked tickets to go and see him in London. Iโ€™d only ever been to Metal concerts before so i didnโ€™t know what to expect.ย It was Eric Bibbโ€™s โ€œFriendsโ€ tour and when Eric started the song โ€œNeeded Timeโ€ and sang the words.ย

โ€œIโ€™m down on my bended knees, Iโ€™m on my knees, praying want you come back, come back here?
Even if you donโ€™t stay long, oh my Jesus, If you donโ€™t stay long, Iโ€™m praying, Come back here.
Singing Right now is the needed time, I know you feel the needed time right now. Bless us!โ€ย

This was the moment when I asked Jesus to save me saying โ€œI canโ€™t fight any more. Please help me!โ€ From that moment something happened inside me and I just felt an outpouring of my entire being. My heart seemed to clear itself of all the darkness, hatred and anger Iโ€™d filled it with replacing this with pure love. I couldnโ€™t stop my river of tears for the rest of the show.ย

February 2013 โ€“ Now and into the futureโ€ฆ.

ย Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Godโ€™s will is โ€“ his good, pleasing and perfect will.ย

My eyes are filling with tears as I write this section. I just canโ€™t believe Iโ€™m sitting here typing this. If it was up to me than Iโ€™d be dead. Iโ€™d have missed Godโ€™s amazing grace and a living relationship with Jesus along with the countless blessings I simply didnโ€™t know existed! Heโ€™s transformed me in so many ways and Iโ€™m no longer held captive by drinking, swearing, anger, lack of compassion and self loathing, along with much much more. Iโ€™m also getting a long way to overcoming my ever big struggle with over eating.

7Cubed: Steve, we agree with what you said “thereโ€™s no pit too deep that God wonโ€™t reach down and lift you out of.” Praise God for that Truth! Thank you for taking a moment to share your beautiful life with us and may God bless your work and vision throughout the mission He has laid on your heart!

Don’t miss Steve’sย beautiful photography onย his blog!ย

God’s Love for Us

Be Loved! โ™ฅ ๐Ÿ™‚ โ™ฅ

Shelly's avatarDeeply Rooted in Him

Image

Godโ€™s love for us is truly something hard for us to comprehend. His love for us is like no other love we have or ever will experience. We have a hard time understanding His love for us because we donโ€™t love the way He loves.

When it comes to love, our human ability to love is finite, limited and quite frankly pretty fickle and we have a tendency to view Godโ€™s love like our own love. But they are vastly different. Our love is based on our feelings but Godโ€™s love is based on His nature. His very nature is love.

1 John 4:8

Anyone who does not love does not know God, becauseย God is love.

He loved us even before we were born and we were created in His image. God doesnโ€™t wait for us to be be โ€œgood enoughโ€ for Him to love us; He loves usโ€ฆ

We Must Receive His Grace

Click blue logo for more Bible verses

2 Peter 1:3-4ย The Voice

His divine power has given us everything we need to experience life and to reflect Godโ€™s true nature through the knowledge of the One who called us by His glory and virtue. Through these things, we have received Godโ€™s great and valuable promises, so we might escape the corruption of worldly desires and share in the divine nature.

God took the first step to rescue us from this corrupt world. He has granted us His power, revealed to us true knowledge, and spoken to us great promises. He has done all this for a reason: that we might participate in His own nature and reflect His own life. But we are not passive observers of Godโ€™s saving actions. We must receive His grace, grow in knowledge, and join Him in this work of redemption.

THE GOSPEL MESSAGE RAP STYLEย

Jesus told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel but He never told us how to go or what to use.

I believe He never confined us to a specific โ€œhowโ€ or โ€œwhatโ€, to a specific โ€œmethodโ€ or โ€œtoolโ€, ย because He in His divine foreknowledge knew that the options available to us to take the message of the Gospel to the world would evolve and multiply in each generation and wants us to make use of whatever is available in our time.

Whom Will We Serve?

Click blue logo for more Bible verses

Romans 7:1-14ย The Voice

Grace is no license to sin. As creatures, we are made to serve our Creator. In the absence of truth, we will serve somebody or something. Itโ€™s an essential part of our nature. Our only choice is this: whom will we serve? At one time, we all served sin and grew weak under its deadly power over us. Now, through Godโ€™s grace, we have become servants of obedience that sets us right with God, each other, and ourselves. We must daily decide whose servant we are and offer Him our hands, our feet, our hearts, our eyes.

My brothers and sisters who are well versed in the law, donโ€™t you realize that a person is subject to the law only as long as he is alive? 2 So, for example, a wife is obligated by the law to her husband until his death; if the husband dies, she is freed from the parts of the law that relate to her marriage. 3 If she is sleeping with another man while her husband is alive, she is rightly labeled an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is free from the law and can marry another man. In such a case, she is not an adulteress.

4 My brothers and sisters, in the same way, you have died when it comes to the law because of your connection with the body of the Anointed One. His deathโ€”and your death with Himโ€”frees you to belong to the One who was raised from the dead so we can bear fruit for God. 5 As we were living in the flesh, the law could not solve the problem of sin; it only awakened our lust for more and cultivated the fruit of death in our bodily members. 6 But now that we have died to those chains that imprisoned us, we have been released from the law to serve in a new Spirit-empowered life, not the old written code.

7 So what is the story? Is the law itself sin? Absolutely not! It is the exact opposite. I would never have known what sin is if it were not for the law. For example, I would not have known that desiring something that belongs to my neighbor is sin if the law had not said, โ€œYou are not to covet.โ€ 8 Sin took advantage of the commandment to create a constant stream of greed and desire within me; I began to want everything. You see, apart from the law, sin lies dormant. 9 There was a time when I was living without the law, but the commandment came and changed everything: sin came to life, and I died. 10 This commandment was supposed to bring life; but in my experience, it brought death. 11 Sin took advantage of the commandment, tricked me, and exploited it in order to kill me. 12 So hear me out: the law is holy; and its commandments are holy, right, and good.

13 So did the good law bring about my death? Absolutely not! It was sin that killed me, not the law. Itโ€™s the nature of sin to produce death through what is good and exploit the commandments to multiply sinโ€™s vile effects. 14 This is what we know: the law comes from the spiritual realm. My problem is that I am of the fallen human realm, owned by sin, which tries to keep me in its service.

Undead: How Faith & The Living Dead Intersect

Article 42day Logo

ย Undead.ย Author Clay Morgan explores death and the supernatural, explaining how faith and the living dead intersect.

Zombies aren’t just around for Halloween anymore, with the genre finding huge success in Hollywood. AMC’s hit show,ย The Walking Dead, is just one of the many Zombie-focused stories out there today.

Recently, Morgan shared with CBN.comย about this phenomenon, what we can learn from these supernatural stories and how Jesus is the epitome of the “anti-zombie”.

What’s a Christian doing writing a book about zombies?

Clay Morgan:ย I wrote a book about zombies for much the same reason C.S. Lewis wrote a book likeย The Screwtape Lettersย about demonsโ€”to find light in the darkness. Tales of the supernatural are ready-made for Christianity. Zombies are ridiculously popular and culturally relevant, so zombies are a great way to get someone’s attention. From there we can have a marvelous discussion about spiritual life and spiritual death.

I’m also genuinely interested in the topic and pop culture in general. Millions of people never go to church or learn about biblical faith. For them, entertainment may be the sole medium informing their beliefs of the supernatural. If someone walks out of a movie about zombies or vampires asking questions about life beyond the grave then that’s a great opportunity to have a meaningful conversation about eternal things.

Have you received any criticism for examining themes like horror and zombies?

CM:ย Nothing major yet, but I certainly expected some. I’m sure some people don’t want anything to do with zombies, even as a starting point for discussing biblical miracles, but anyone who reads the book will see that it’s about much more. The stories are fun, so there’s not much of a horror/zombie vibe for most readers.

Why are we fascinated by the living dead?

CM:ย In part I think we’re compelled by the world in which they live, a post-apocalyptic environment where humanity as we know it is over. There are no more bills to pay or jobs to pursue or social circles to navigate. There’s equality in the face of death.

As for the monsters, it’s hard to look away from such an uncompromising threat. And on a deeper level we recognize the meaning of an existence with no hope for redemption. Their totality is so threatening. One misstep and it’s over. And the victims in these stories often don’t just die; they are turned into evil monsters which is more terrifying than anything.

Why is being scared entertaining?

CM:ย For most people it’s exciting, an adrenaline rush. The key is that we aren’t in any real danger, so we pay a lot of money for the illusion of such things. Maybe some of us are just thrill seekers. I suspect that part of it is a desire to find out what our thresholds are. What I do know is that if a horror movie plot like a zombie outbreak really happened it would not be fun! The real thing would be so truly terrifying, but entertainment is a different thing.

What’s your favorite zombie film, and why?

CM:ย I think the first zombie movie that truly captivated me wasย 28 Days Laterย in which a man wakes from a coma after London has already been devastated by plague. In addition to the quality of the filmmaking and suspense the story makes you think about fate and the meaningful relationships in our lives. Most of all, you have to consider what humanity becomes in the face of ultimate depravity. After all, zombies are a visible representation of cursed creation.

If I have a clear favorite, it’s probablyย Zombielandย which balances humor with the fright of a world gone wrong. That one really allows you to see the empty stores and communities and consider what the world might look like during an apocalypse.

What spiritual lessons do zombie stories teach us?

CM:ย The biggest lesson might be that it’s possible to exist without truly being alive. A lot of us shamble through life, thoughtlessly going through the motions while feeling dead inside. That includes people in churches and youth groups. We may look like we’re alive to the people around us while masking the decay in our heart.

I used to punch in on Sundays and walk away largely unchanged. What are we living for? What is the meaning of our existence? Zombies aimlessly roam around looking for one more chance to gorge on an appetite of destruction, yet no matter how much they feed on what they desire they are always empty. If anybody has ever wondered what’s missing in life they can probably relate to that kind of emptiness. Fortunately, we don’t have to stay that way. God offers ultimate fulfillment, an abundant life.

A section of your book is titled, ‘Undead in the Bible’. Are you saying there are zombies in the Bible?

CM:ย That idea is really the heart of the book. Most of the chapters inย Undeadย describe the six individuals in the New Testament who were raised from the dead by God. Jesus performed three of these jaw-dropping miracles and became the fourth. Peter and Paul were also used to bring someone back from the dead.

Of course, these individuals weren’t zombies in the Hollywood sense. Like Lazarus, those folks were restored to full life. But the wordplay makes sense since culture is so fascinated with dead people coming back to life. I thought it was pretty cool to show how many times that type of thing happened in the Bible. The same God who brought people back from physical death in the first century is still able to bring us back from spiritual death today.

Inย Undead,ย you say we see ourselves in zombies. How’s that?

CM:ย The thing about zombies is that they look familiar in their t-shirts, jeans, curlers, and slippers. Other monstersโ€”such as aliens, vampire, or werewolves for exampleโ€”look so different. We see ourselves in zombies, the worst possible version of our neighbors and ourselves. They hit close to home.

Metaphorically, some of us see frightening reflections of ourselves when we look in the mirror because we know ugly, personal truths.

A major theme of a lot of zombie films and stories is when the living become more monstrous than the zombies in their quest for survival. What is it about zombie movies that help us to examine the dark side of human nature?

CM:ย You’ve nailed it. Zombie fiction is always about the survivors and how they’ll interact. The title of that show The Walking Dead isn’t a reference to the zombies but to the people attempting to go on. These stories reduce everything to its base. Money and social status don’t help anyone. In such dire circumstances the truth about human nature is revealed, and we know it isn’t pretty. The ancient prophet Jeremiah said that our hearts are deceitful above all else and even desperately wicked. Any good zombie story shows how wicked some people can be.

“Jesus is the anti-zombie”. Please, do explain.

CM:ย Zombies are the complete opposite to Jesus. They come back from the dead to take lives. Jesus came back from the dead to give life to all. Zombies are damaged, decaying, and terrifying. Jesus came back resurrected in perfection, a beautiful sight to all who believe. Zombies transform people from life to death. Jesus offers transformation from death to life. That’s why I call him the anti-zombie.

Undeadย also gets into vampires. How does that folklore play into this?

CM:ย Monster stories often subvert God’s story. For example, vampires receive immortality at the expense of their soul. They take blood to have life which is completely the opposite of Jesus who gave blood so that others might have life. Blood is a central theme throughout both scripture and vampire lore.

The other thing about vampires is that they are the ultimate in selfishness which is something I used to really struggle with. To use another metaphor, spiritual vampires are takers and they can be found anywhere, churches included. We need to make sure we’re not acting like vampires to the people around us by losing sight of what it means to be a servant like Jesus.

Beyond talk of zombies and vampires, this book speaks to deeper issues. What is the message?

CM:ย The ultimate message ofย Undeadย is that God is able to breathe life into each one of us. He wants to transform us, and it will be the most awesome miracle we’ve ever experienced. Spiritual death isn’t just about ignoring God. If we’re honest, some of us may be in churches every week but know that something big is missing from our lives. Like Lazarus, it’s possible to be a friend of Jesus for a while before experiencing a whole new level of his miraculous, life-giving power in a new way.

Who do you know that needs to hear about the transforming power of God? Maybe they’re not even interested in going to church but they just might findย Undeadย engaging enough to discover the mind-blowing force of God’s love.

Faith Comes By Hearing

I prayed for faith and thought it would strike me like lightening. But faith did not come. One day I read, โ€œNow faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.โ€ I had closed my Bible and prayed for faith. I now began to study my Bible and faith has been growing ever since.

“Wasteland”

I am the first one in line to die
When the cavalry comes
Yeah it feels like the great divide
has already come
Yeah im wastin’ my way through days
losing youth along the way

Oh if God, is on my side
Oh if God, is on my side
Oh if God, is on my side
Who could be against me?

There was a greatness I felt for a while
But somehow it changed
Some kind of blindness I used to protect me
From all of my stains
Yeah I wish this was vertigo
It just feels like I’m fallin’ slow
Oh if God, is on my side
Then who can be against me?

Yeah in this wasteland
Where I’m livin’
There is a crack in the door filled with light
And it’s all that
I need to get by

Yeah in this wasteland
Where I’m livin’
There is a crack in the door filled with light
And it’s all that
I need to shine

All of these people I meet
It seems like they’re fine
Yeah in some ways I hope that they’re not
And their hearts are like mine
Yeah its wrong when it seems like work
To belong, All I feel is hurt

Oh if God, is on my side
Yeah if God, is on my side
Oh if God, is on my side
Who could be against me?

Yeah in this wasteland
Where I’m livin’
There is a crack in the door filled with light
And its all that
I need to get by

Yeah in this wasteland
Where I’m livin’
There is a crack in the door filled with light
And it’s all that
I need to shine

Oh if God, is on my side
Yeah if God, is on my side
Oh if God, is on my side
Then who could be against me?

1 Peter 1:3-5ย Amplified Bible

Praised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been born again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

[Born anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,

Who are being guarded (garrisoned) by Godโ€™s power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit that [a]final] salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time.

We Are His Temple

Click blue logo for more Christian quotes

โ€œWe are his temple. We do not turn in a certain directlon to pray. We are not bound by having to go into a building so that we can commune with God. There are no unique postures and times and limitations that restrict our access to God. My relationship with God is intimate and personal. The Christian does not go to the temple to worship. The Christian takes the temple with him or her. Jesus lifts us beyond the building and pays the human body the highest compliment by making it His dwelling place, the place where He meets with us. Even today He would overturn the tables of those who make it a marketplace for their own lust, greed, and wealth.โ€

We Are Loved As We Are

Please click the blue iPray logo for more prayers

Risen God, we come to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, yet we do not share the love that Christ offers. Forgive us when we forget his gift of sacrificial love.

Risen God, sometimes we look and do not recognise you because we have already decided what you will look like. Forgive us when we do not see you in people we meet.

Risen God, sometimes we would rather not hear the weeping of others because we cannot cope with what it will mean to care for them. Forgive us when we are deaf to the cries of the world.

Risen God, sometimes we choose to stay at the tomb rather than join the women in rushing to spread the Good News. Forgive us when we chose to mourn instead of live.

The grace of God is for us through Christโ€™s death and Resurrection.

We are loved as we are, not as we believe we should be.

We are given forgiveness as a gift beyond anything we have deserved or earned.

We lift up our hearts and receive our freedom, Amen.

I SENSI DELLโ€™ARTE| ART SENSES 2014

AN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO THOSE WHO CANNOT SEE

ย

The exhibition ART SENSES 2013, dedicated to blind and visually impaired people, starts in Ancona 4th April 2014, and then Tuscany, region in Italy, on October 26th in Massa Marittima, and it ended in Grosseto on December 3rd, with a conference on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

More than sixty works by 28 blind or visually impaired artists – out of them 15 are from other countries – became part of the art exhibition reserved to them, that includes a wide variety of languages and media.

The thirteen Italian artists mixed with the fifteen from England, Estonia, Finland, Israel, Slovenija, thereby showing a community geographically distant, yet close due to the desire to participate and get involved.ย

Among all the works selected for the exhibition, six artists was chosen by a technical jury, as

Award winners

The aim of this artistic path falls within the overall significance of the event, that of appreciating, producing, living art with our other senses, participating together and closely to the experience of those who just cannot see, especially now that the world is increasingly dominated by visual messages.ย

ArtSenses starts just from there, and invites everyone to explore “other” ways to experience the creative reality.

ย

THE TRAVELING EXHIBIT in 2014

The exhibition will then travel to other exhibition halls, as the OMERO Tactile State Museum in Ancona, Italy, from the 4th until the 27th of April 2014 placed into the important Mole Vanvitelliana; in December 2014 the prestigious PALAZZO MEDICI RICCARDI in Florence.ย

This event thus creates the chance to take the concept also beyond national boundaries and it becomes a source of cultural growth and of social and ethical participation, demonstrating the interest in a project that can be regarded beyond the standard canons of art.

ย

INVITATION

The UK blind or partially sighted artists are invited to participate to the exhibition from the 3nd until the 15th of December,in FLORENCE, Italy, within the Galleria delle Carrozze of the PALAZZO MEDICI RICCARDI, one of the most famous historical buildings of the city.ย

We Arenโ€™t Here By Accident

Click blue logo for more Christian quotes

God leaves us here because He has a mission for us to fulfill. We arenโ€™t here by accident; neither are we here simply to enjoy the good things life has to offer. We are here because God put us here, and He has a sovereign purpose in keeping us here. Itโ€™s true for us as individuals, and itโ€™s true for His body, the Church, in all of its fullness. As Jesus prayed just before His arrest and trial, โ€œI am not praying that You take them out of the worldโ€ฆAs You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.โ€ (John 17:15,18)
